I had a feeling that soneone would point out something I had overlooked. Ah well, it was just an idea.

However, if people knows that the themes are similar, the ones that enter THAC IX B will start working on a story two weeks earlier, 'cause after all, the themes are similar.

I think it wouldn't make sense. It's unthinkable, imo, that people won't chat or ask someone else to voice act for them, because that's what THAC is all about, that's what we all do: it's not just creating a movie in 24 hours, it's discussing and helping others in every way possible. At least, that's how I always saw THAC.
It wouldn't work, and not because it's hard to keep a secret, but because it would kill the best part of the contest, and therefore there wouldn't be that much fun in making an entry: it would just be more tough.

C'mon seriously, the world isn't fair. Besides, having two THACs just doesn't sound like a good idea to me, sorry. Like Rsteenoven said, the vote says December so far and from the looks of it, I don't think the other votes will catch.

If there is a possibility of having two different THACs and to make more people happy, why not try? I'm not saying "it HAS TO BE DONE", but if there's a way, I say we should try figure out how to make it work.
In case it's not possible, I'm not going to commit suicide either.

This was my original plan.

The problem with your plan is that people would have to say — in advance — that they were going to enter 9A or 9B, and it would be a lot of e-mails for the organizers to send out. Other issues have been pointed out already.

The issue here is that anyone who preferred their 9B entry would have to notify the organizer that they were withdrawing their 9A film, which would delay judging of 9A by several weeks. Also, lots of wasted effort.

It doesn't have to be complicated. I'm currently favoring my original plan, but if we decide to have only one winner, than here's how I would structure it:
* First place = Selected winner, taken from both THACs.
*Second place = First place from other THAC (e.g. Overall winner is from THAC 9B, than second place would be winner of THAC 9A.)
*Third place = Runner up, taken from both THACs.
*Fourth place = Runner up, taken from other THAC.

Essentially, the second and fourth place winners would be functions of the first and third place winners.

I have a question would thac start on a saturday or a sunday. Just wondering

There were two rounds in THAC 5, I'm not a fan of the idea this time mostly because we don't have enough trustworthy people interested in helping out with two rounds. Also, in order to avoid copy-cats and one-upping and things of that sort, THAC 5 had entrants of round A keep their entries private until after round B. It made sense with two dates that were close together as in THAC 5, but here there'd be a long gap of time which makes this increasingly problematic.

I can see why this two-rounds idea seems like a good idea to some people, but it increases the already substantial workload of running the contest pretty significantly. I'm mostly just hoping to get this contest to happen at all at this point, so I'm fairly set against it. The bottom line is that most people interested in entering THAC will make time to enter on either date so having two dates isn't a huge boost, as indicated by THAC 5 not having many entrants in the A round, anyway.

Between that and the fairly clear majority vote I'm leaning toward trying to get this together in time for the December date. I'd also note that judging would go slower with the January date since people have more time to judge over the holidays.
