It seems most people have exams split between December-January time. I would have preferred January, though I can see December is storming ahead. I hope all 58 who have voted for 17th/18th can actually enter - that would be extremely unfair on others who can't if you don't participate.
I personally voted for the 7th/8th because I want to have a film to release next year, since most of the year will be spent working on a mega, multi-year, project. However, if it will be held on 17th/18th, I'm fine with that too, since I won't be busy either weekend.

The final date will only subvert from the vote's winner if no one is able to run it on that date. I cannot run it in December.
I don't think I'll enter this year, but maybe if there's an option to be part of the judge panel, I'm willing to do that.
I'll put in my two cents:
My camera is broken and I wont get a new one until Christmas so I would Really like to have this contest after the 24th of December 
I have a question about THACs, that doesn't relate to the topic though: If the theme is _______ and let's say you have a video similar to that, would it be possible to just make a recreation of that video, just with the color/letter mods? I'm not saying I plan on doing this, nor do I suggest others do it; it's just a thought that popped in my head. I've never seen any rules saying no...
I'd say the 17-18 works the best for us, cause exams are in January at our school. Plus, THAC before Christmas always puts me in the holiday spirit

As much as I love doing it in December right before Christmas, I probably won't be able to do it until January. I'll give it a shot, though, whenever it is. THAC is always good fun.
This one's extra tough for me because the 17th/18th weekend is before my winter vacation starts (it starts on the 23rd), but the 7th/8th weekend is approximately the time of my Mid-Year exams, and as any American public student will know, these are do-or-die tests.
However, reading through these last 100 or so posts, I see that I am not alone with scheduling conflicts. I've also noticed that there is a relatively narrow margin between the selected weekends. Thus, I am proposing TWO THACs this year. IX A, and IX B. I am aware of the double-feature THAC V, but this is a very different situation.
Here's how it would work:
THAC IX A is December 17th to December 18th.
THAC IX B is January 7th to January 8th.
If one enters IX A, they will NOT be allowed to enter IX B.
In essence, they would be two contests, each with their own theme and mods. All other rules apply as normal. I would be willing to run THAC IX A, as Hazzat stated that he is unavailable for December.
Personally I'm all for Mcoov's idea. It sounds original and fun, plus it would appeal to a wider variety of contestants. Plus it means people who entered THAC IX A could help out people who enter THAC IX B with voice acting, sound, etc. if they so wished.
This could work. I'm all for it.
