Re: Community Forum Changes

I'm not sure what to say about this move, one one side I'll miss the Cafe Corner and such, but on the other at least I'll do more brickfilming. mini/smile
Also, I don't understand why you haven't let people like say, ZP into the community, I've never seen him go around spamming and such. (Not trying to get myself and/or other members into the community. Just saying)

Re: Community Forum Changes

Because people haven't made it into the initial list (which was drawn up rather quickly) doesn't mean we are calling you spammers, keep in mind more people will definitely be added in future.

Sorry I was a little quick to draw the Im POed gun.

Re: Community Forum Changes

Heh, at least I may now make less stupid posts, seeing as the threads where it's almost acceptable to be an idiot are now unavailable.

Annnyways, guys, I think it would probably be best not to announce if you're allowed in, it stirs up the n00bs.

And no n00bs, I am not allowed in, because I am a n00b.

Re: Community Forum Changes

This is cool, I hope this results  in a bigger focus on movies.

Re: Community Forum Changes

Well I agree with this but there are some problems:

First off the old this isn't worth a whole thread thing will vanish cause there no cafe corner which means you will get tons of pointless topics that could be otherwise asked in the cafe corner.
I also believe the community forum kept a lot of spam from getting mixed up with the rest of the forum.
So overall it probably will help but will also cause a few problems.

Re: Community Forum Changes

Every other forum has a definite purpose that relates to filming. And we already have a Q&A Topic, which should handle basic problems. There won't be random pointless topics, because there's no forum that random pointless topics could be posted in.
Personally I'm all for this, I'll be interested to see how it all works out. Hopefully it'll increase the productivity of our community.

They aren't problems. A thread has been made to answer little brickfilm-related questions that aren't "worth a whole thread". Spam and stuff like that aren't allowed in the other parts of the forums, so if any does come up, the mods will handle it. The Community section was keeping spam in it's place, but the thing is just that. We had a place where spam could thrive. Now we don't, so spam will dissapear from this website.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: Community Forum Changes

Good, now I might be able to get back into brickfilming again.

Re: Community Forum Changes

Ohhh hell no!
Sorry Smeagol, but this move has just pushed me off the site. The community forum was to take a break, to chat amongst ourselves about what's in the news, funny non-brickfilm related videos and video games and caption contests! Don't tell me you're not going to miss it?! Please think about it once more at least! mini/no You have lowered your importance title in my mind. Lowered it... right to the GROUND. mini/madhead

Re: Community Forum Changes

I personally think  that we should keep the rest of the community threads out but retain the cafe corner.  I believe that  will give us a good balance of casual conversation and film discussion.  Someone will probably say "thats what the chat is for". I would agree with you normally but I and from what I imagine many other members feel out of place and even not welcomed.

I know, right!
It's really annoying, only letting certain members in.
I am not trying to complain, that was just our freedom forum.
I get why, I am just against this taking of the community forum. It's a lounge now for only the best, not a community. mini/no
I agree with JT

Nothing of value was lost.

Re: Community Forum Changes

You guys should stop whining and go animate something.

Re: Community Forum Changes

I also have no-where to troll, Even if I wanted to. There's nowhere for really new members to get a feel of the other members or anything. I am very angry. It's late... (11:07pm) I should go to bed. Maybe then I will calm down... mini/madhead
There will probably be a bunch of stupid link posts from me now in the wrong forums. Sorry for complaining but I AM MAAAAD.

Re: Community Forum Changes

LegoAndStickfigs, I hate to sound condesending but you have only been here for 10 days. I fail to see how the community forum could mean so much to a new member considering people join for the film aspects of the forum. Keep in mind everyone that more people will be added later on if they are mature and have an interest in the site.

Re: Community Forum Changes

LegoAndStickfigs, did you actually read the PM I sent you? It seems relevant to a few of you so I'll post it here too:

I noticed that you've been complaining a lot on the forums about how you were not allowed into the Community forum. I don't think you've quite understood why.

Sméagol has been very sad lately about all things to do with this website. He has repeatedly expressed how he doesn't enjoy running the site anymore and doesn't enjoy many of the brickfilms being released. Behind the scenes, us staff have all agreed with this thought and have been discussing the possible measures we could take to 'Save The Site'.

The Community forum was too big and was overrun by simple and unfunny discussion that was not about filmmaking, yet was the largest part of the forum. We needed to encourage (or, rather, enforce) brickfilming-based talk in order to further develop this currently stagnating hobby.

The Community forum is now open to a select few (I think 20-30 people, but don't quote me on that) who have demonstrated maturity and the ability to produce sensible, well-thought-through posts in the past. More invitations will be given out, but only to those who have also demonstrated a mature conduct on the forums.

So you want back in? I don't think I need to explain to you how now. Post sparingly and make each one worthwhile. Discuss brickfilming. Learn from what you have read and make brickfilms. Make them innovative. Just be grown-up and you'll have your Community forum back in no time.

And if you don't feel like doing that, I would like to echo Sméagol's thoughts by saying if you're not on a brickfilming site to discuss brickfilming, why are you here at all?
