Erm.  Not exactly, no.  You can see it because you're staff.

Folks posting meme pics in here are sort of reinforcing the logic behind closing the forum like this, though.

True, yet most of the time the meme-faces truly reflect the feelings and ideas in relation to most of the discussion, while being a little immature they mostly are in context. Rather than having absolutely no meaning or reason for posting, when people (me) use them they are meant to make a point, albeit a weak one, but a point at that.

Sorry Smeagol, but this move has just pushed me off the site. The community forum was to take a break, to chat amongst ourselves about what's in the news, funny non-brickfilm related videos and video games and caption contests! Don't tell me you're not going to miss it?! Please think about it once more at least! mini/no You have lowered your importance title in my mind. Lowered it... right to the GROUND. mini/madhead

Hey, I understand your frustration, but try to chill out and understand the situation.
They have reasons for doing this, though you may not agree, I think they seem quite respectable, logical and reasonable. Don't get all mad complaining using bad words. It's much more likely they'll pay attention to your complaint if you type it in a well thought out, polite manor anyway.

Re: Community Forum Changes

Chiiiiiill everybody. It's just a community forum. I am pretty sure Smeagol doesn't enjoy doing this.

Re: Community Forum Changes

Oh and I understand why I wasn't let in, I've been sort of a little !@#$ lately. So thorry 'bout dat. But I have another quarrel gnawing at my head.

Most of the moderators don't make any films at all. Especially you Smeagol, I understand why, you have many other things on your mind, because you're more mature and have much more responsibilities then most of us, but you still haven't made a film in what seems like ages, well, there's the live-action stuff, but as for brickfilms, it seems you don't do that nearly as often as before. As for the other Mods, they too pump out as much films as the next guy, trolls even make more films then most of you. Even the n00bs make substantially more films then any of us, yet being of poor quality, they still make a ton more. So the community itself is way more productive then a certain lot of you. Call me a hypocrite if you will, because I kind of fit in with that lot. But I've been moving and I'm having parental/family troubles, so that's why I'm not filming very much stuff at all. You guys are pretty much just normal brickfilmers with bold, customizable name-tags who are way more informal then the average brickfilmer. Just a point I found slightly irritating. But! I do think the Community removal is a good thing in some respects.

(No offense guys.)

Now I'm waiting to get my a$$ kicked by a mod/experienced member. Like Lechnology, or even Smeagol.

Somehow I knew you were going to do that. xD

Re: Community Forum Changes

While I do see the long term benefits of this, right now we're just sitting in the middle of a big flame. If everyone could just shut up and deal with the fact that you can't see it. And if you can see, and you're still upset, that's just too bad. I have a suggestion for everyone. Go make a brickfilm. That's what we came here for. Everyone says they want to make a film that will still be talked about when they leave. That won't happen unless you get off your ass and make it happen. Just. Go. Animate.

And Lamplight, 90% of the mods are in college, and it's kind of difficult to haul LEGO to a dorm. The mods wee selected for a reason other than their brickfilming prowess. They were selected because of the maturity level they possess under a crisis and/or flame. A quality not many brickfilmers apear to have.

I'm really annoyed with this community and how they handle things. You guys should know better, even if you are new to the community, you know not to cry and throw a fit when your toy gets taken away.

Yeah, I read it a few times.

Hmm. As I read it over the third time, it makes sense, actually, it's made sense all along! mini/XD
OK, I am clear, the community forum will be missed but this is to 'save the site'! mini/wink

How can you expect any of us to be mature, when we're on an online forum devoted to animating Legos?

Re: Community Forum Changes

This post was originally meant for LegoAndStickfigs, but I took so long typing this, he understands now. Now, this would apply to anyone who dislikes this change. Read it like I'm talking to you, just ignore anything that pertains to LegoAndStickfigs.

LegoAndStickfigs, after reading your posts and your new signuature, I get why you feel like this. You think it's unfair that only the (what you think of as) "better" members are getting access to the the Community forum. Jargon once told me, "The world isn't fair, dear chap.". He's right. Not everything is equal, and therefore not everything is fair.

The people let in the Community forum know how to treat it right, and will use it well. The problem was that other members weren't using it well. Those members allowed in have earned it, whereas the other members haven't. It seems that part of the reason why you are upset is because you don't have the Community forum anymore. I don't have it either, and I've been here for a few months. I know that you have been interested in this site for a year, but you haven't yet gotten used to being a member. These things take time. You or me might get allowed in there someday, but you aren't going to be let in if you keep protesting this descion. Smeagol and the mods are wise people, and I respect their desicion. It's for our own good, you know. They wouldn't do this if they didn't have a good reason for it. If you become more mature, you might be able to get access to the Community forum someday.

I'm just trying to make you understand, okay?
At least read what I wrote, please try to understand.

If you didn't read that, and just skipped down to here, please read the whole thing. I'm only trying to help you.

EDIT: Now that I see all the new posts that popped up after I typed this, I see now you understand. Well, that's what happens when you type a really long post.

Do you honestly believe that BiM's staff is a couple of people who don't brickfilm and are informal apes that parade around the internet in search of a troll to yell at?

That statement is quite far off. Hazzat is one of the most active brickfilmers I've ever known, and he consistently retains a level of quality that makes his films watchable. The others not so much, but Spudster's been active, as has Jargon (making Invention of Halitosis), and NXTManiac (Pancakes!!!). The rest have all been far more active in the past, which is part of the reason as to why they hold Moderator status.

As for the other Mods, they too pump out as much films as the next guy, trolls even make more films then most of you. Even the n00bs make substantially more films then any of us, yet being of poor quality, they still make a ton more.

To make a quality brickfilm like Unrenewable, The Force Unleashed, or even Ben and Andy, takes time and effort (and a small amount of insanity). To even come up with a workable idea can take quite some time (believe me, I know). And we don't constantly update the status of our films in the Pre-Production or Production threads like a bloody Twitter feed. I haven't seen Sean's progress bar in his sig move since he uploaded it. That time is what you perceive as being inactive. And besides, we have lives outside BiM, as preposterous as it may seem. Night Owl; dewfilms; Nathan Wells; they've all been dealing with college, and thus have been unable to brickfilm. I've been working through High School and trying to earn my Pilot's License, so I've been unable for some time now.

But I've been moving and I'm having parental/family troubles, so that's why I'm not filming very much stuff at all. You guys are pretty much just normal brickfilmers with bold, customizable name-tags who are way more informal then the average brickfilmer.

As unfortunate as that is, it only reinforces your position as part of the norm. Like I said, we all have lives outside BiM, and that only interferes with our ability to brickfilm. Please see my above paragraph.

Now I'm waiting to get my a$$ kicked by a[n] experienced member. Like Lechnology, or even Smeagol

Lets not get angry here... We are fun folks...
I have a suggestion. If we really, really, want a sort of social networking site for brickfilmers not unsimilar to the  Community forum we could just go off and make a Google Group just for that purpose. Howzat sound to youse?

I like that idea!

Re: Community Forum Changes

What should it be called?

Re: Community Forum Changes

The BiM Community Group?

Re: Community Forum Changes

BiM has a Facebook page, but Schlaeps controls it, and he's been off the radar for two years now.

I was thinking the same thing. (I thought of it while I was in bed last night.)
I didn't post it because I was thinking: "Yeah, but I guess it would be better to focus more on brickfilming."
I would certainly be a member of that if somebody makes it. If not, it's no big deal.

Re: Community Forum Changes

Seriously, like, get over it. If you're whining about not being able to post in a forum with threads that are on the whole useless, we frankly don't want you here. We want this site to be a productive group of engaged community members, not whining 12-year-old n00bs who clearly do not know how to participate in any meaningful capacity.
