Guys, I'm sure after time they'll/he'll let you in once you prove devotion to brickfilming more than you already do. I don't believe it's final on who's allowed in now.
I remember this happened last year too (I think it was last year), I had nothing against that move back then, I have nothing against removing the community section now. I almost didn't even noticed it didn't exist anymore. It's a good idea. It doesn't change my life, not drastically at least.
LegoDudez: I don't think they classified you as a troller. Neither I can have access to it, but I doubt it's because I'm considered spammer or troller. I don't even make topics anymore.

Then why did they bring it back?
I'm going to ask my question again just to see what everybody else thinks, I'm pretty conflicted about whether it was a good idea or not.
Another thing is that by doing this we're all going to become anti-social freaks, the stereotypical brickfilmer.
Also, whenever I have a minor question about something brickfilmy, like how to prevent light flicker or how to do something in GIMP, I ask it in the Cafe Corner, so not to spam other forums with topics that have been made a million hundred times. Now with the closing of that, semi-n00bs like me who don't have access will be creating a wealth of useless topics-although I am going to try to keep it way down by searching the previous things.
But don't you think that's a problem?

I guess that could be a problem.
But, due to this event, I'm going to try to focus more on brickfilming on this site. And put a lot of effort into not trolling, and maybe they'll let me back.
Hopefully...
@ Mods and official people: So, is there anything that would help right now in being better members?

If it's been asked a million times, it has been answered a million times. If you genuinely can't find the answer in a thorough search, then I don't see a problem with making a topic or bumping a similar one. Anyway, we'd much rather people make a thousand topics actually related to brickfilming than "Whats ur favorite breakfast cereal???".
Smeagol,
You realize that removing the troll central will increase trolling in the rest of the site?
I'll miss it, but I'll live without it.
The thing is, the Community forum was almost ambiguous in regards to whether we were allowing trolls. If people decide to troll in the other forums, they will be moderated. We didn't remove the Community so the problem would spread into the rest of the site, and if it takes issuing bans to stop it from happening, there will be bans.
In regards to the new Community forums being scary and uptight (a few have expressed fears about this), the general idea is that if you have access, you know how to behave. That meaning just do what you've been doing. We're still not going to be super tight in moderating the community forums; just getting a lot of people out and exploring the rest of the site was our main goal.

Why not start up a 'Minor Questions' thread in the Production forum? That way, even if you can't find the answer to your question though search, you can still ask it.

That's a really good idea.
Do it, Topit.
Great idea. In fact I was thinking of that.
Here. I'm quoting the BiM homepage:
We are an online filmmaking community devoted to the art of stop-motion animation. Most of our films, sometimes called brickfilms or LEGO movies, are created using LEGO® and other plastic brick building toys. In addition to an active community forum for filmmakers, this site is home to an ever-growing directory of films submitted by our users.
What will new users think of us if we're all anti-social and stuff? It will dishearten them into thinking that we have no life and cannot discuss anything besides animation. I agree, just delete those useless topics and keep the ones that were fun/useful/improve our Brickfilming skillz.
Why don't you just delete those "What's ur favorite" topics?
We have been. But people will always make them if the site is set up in a way that encourages their creation, hence the removal of the Community forum to people who we don't deem reasonable enough to handle it at this time. I really don't get my kicks from deleting silly random topics, particularly if they are coming from people who barely do anything in the main brickfilming forums, and I'm sure the other moderators agree. Just cleaning stuff up hasn't done the trick, so we're trying something new.

New users will think we're interested in filmmaking, which is the point of the site. An online filmmaking community. Active community forum for filmmakers. New users don't care if we have a life outside of brickfilming, and if they do, they should go on a general forum for talking about that kind of thing. Hell, if they want, they can frequent both- that doesn't matter to me or the rest of the staff. We really don't want people who just come here for the community, though. It sounds kind of harsh, but we really don't. It's fine to have community discussion to supplement active filmmaking talk, but the community shouldn't be the main attraction.
I made the minor questions topic. Hopefully it will work. I called it Q&A Topic.
Great idea. In fact I was thinking of that.

Topit, the community thread isn't what made us a community, it's our interests and hobby in brickfilming which makes us a community.
Ugh... Forget this. I'm going to go brickfilm.
WHUPPS, YOUR PLAN WORKED.
Well, let's see if this really results in an increase of brickfilming-related discussions.
At least it got me motivated. Peace out, trolls!
Personally, I approve of this move. There were so many threads in the Community forum it wasn't even funny. And some stuff, like Onion's "best forum member" thread, was completely unnecessary and downright hurtful to some, or at least it would have been.
That's false. It was a forum awards thing, not "best forum member", and that category wasn't even included because of that very reason. Get your facts right.
That aside, I too approve this move, however am still sad to see it go. Personally I find that at the moment Bricksinmotion is a hinderance rather then a help to me, as I find myself talking about brickfilming a lot more rather then doing it. Of course though this is through my fault alone, but after pondering about it I'll most likely be taking a break. I doubt anyway gives a damn, just thought I'd post it to remove any possible confusion.
Adios.
This is a smart move. This site needs its focus back on da bricks. I approve.
you took da works right out of mah mouth.
sorry die-hard community forum fans, but i never really liked it all that much, so i'm kinda glad to see it go...
I personally have no problem with this. This is about film making, I personally see no need for the community forum. Things like that are for facebook, this is for making films.
