Sorry, it's just that the his face isn't very clear in the poster. I wasn't sure who it was. My mistake mini/smile

Anyone else notice that death star thing in the top right corner?

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Yes. From what I can see, it appears to be somewhat based on concept art for the ANH Death Star.

I am shedding tears of joy right now.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

So tickets are probably sold out.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Wow, I'm impressed. It definitely looks like Star Wars is headed in a new direction in comparison to the original and prequel trilogies–not a bad thing by any means.

Can't wait for December!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Booked tickets right before work at 6am this morning for the 9:30 am selling in Vmax/iMax, whatever it's called. Basically for the biggest sound and the biggest screen. Tickets for the midnight session had already sold out when I booked, although I wasn't planning to go to the midnight session anyway, since provisional drivers can't drive after midnight, and I'd have a difficult time getting home. Tickets are selling fast from what I've heard.

Sooo.....who else already has tickets?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Yep. Booked them for an evening viewing of The Force Awakens on the 18th. Would have loved to have seen it at midnight, but they sold out pretty fast.
That trailer was brilliant. Not too revealing, gave a few appetizers here, a few appetizers there. The trailer is enough to satisfy us for the release on the 18th.
Thrilled I am! mini/delirium

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

That trailer was fantastic.  Without giving anything away, I loved some of the shots in the beginning.  They just really felt right.
The main thing that stood out to me was the music, it's different!  It's the same but it's different!  I absolutely love the music of Star Wars; I have the collections from all the films and have listened to it all in its entirely many times.  In the trailer, it has the force theme for a good section of it, about 1:20 until 1:50.  It's not the same though.  The timing of the notes at 1:24...the familiar triplets are a bit different, the second one is almost a grace note of sorts?  I don't believe it's played that way in any of the rest of the films.  And then the chord progression itself changes slightly.  At 1:29 the chord it goes to isn't the one that's been used in any of the films so far when the force theme has shown up.  I'm not entirely sure what the chord is or what's changed from, but it's definitely there.
And then the rhythm is also a bit different.  The way it's got the bass sounds with drums or something, the depth of it, is much deeper than before.  Even in episode III, the start of that felt lower than it ever was in the original trilogy.  But now it's introduced a new rhythm to it as well, and it really does feel like it has more depth to it.
I am so so excited to hear the soundtrack.  I really can't wait for it.

Oh yeah, the trailer and characters and stuff looked cool too.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Got my tickets to the premiere at 7PM on the 17th. Took like 6 hours of movietickets.com crashing, but I did it!

Yes, that's what I thought. It looks like Ralph mquarrie original designs http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5YB-jU8FMi8/UhvryPKVy3I/AAAAAAAAOv0/Xm53axtz16s/s1600/ywing-concept-art-starwars.jpg

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Still no sign of Luke Skywalker!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

WARNING…fan theory ahead...

Spoiler (click to read)

I think that the reason why we hardly see Luke Skywalker in the trailer is because, I believe he's dead.
My theory is that Kylo Ren is the son of Han Solo & Leia. Luke begins to train Kylo in the ways of the force, Luke tells him stories of the past, Kylo turns to the dark side and kills Luke, goes to Endor to get his new 'Darth' shrine and begins to rebuild where Vader/Emperor left off. I think that what you see in the trailer of the 'hooded' character with the 'robo-hand' is either a flashback of Luke or it's not Luke at all.

This would mean that Luke will be a 'blue ghost' just as Obi Wan was in previous episodes.
And this would also explain why we don't see any photos of Luke Skywalker, because that would give away part of the plot in a huge way.

Granted, I'm really drawn to the idea of having a huge shocker plot twist like Luke = Kylo Ren…
or...
Luke failing to train Kylo, going into exile and turning dark while in sorrow...
….but this is highly unlikely and would draw the ire of fans everywhere.

I definitely agree with JohnDthunDer about the music. I had to go and listen to the Empire Strikes Back soundtrack to find that theme. So good.

Also, I like J.J.Abrams dogfight cinematography. All of the shots with the millennium falcon fighting those Tie(tei)(Thai) fighters are great.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Trailer spoilers ahead, read at your own risk.

Spoiler (click to read)

I think that Luke is the cloaked figure that is touching R2D2. He has either gone into exile and will be the Yoda of the Sequels, or he will die, possibly in a fight like many have suggested.
Many have noticed that Han and Leia are grieving, I believe that it's for a death close to them. People seem to suspect Luke for good reasons. I think that for those reasons, Luke is almost a too obvious choice to kill off. I think it would be even more interesting for Chewie to be the one who dies, but I think that Leia looks more saddened than Han, so it may indeed be Luke.
Kylo Ren idolizes Darth Vader, and whilst he has some understanding of the force, I don't believe he is a Sith lord. It is perhaps his desire to discover everything there is about the Sith, and this may be how he learns the force.
There's a scene in the trailer where Finn seams to be looking over a place that seems very much like a Tatooine city, possibly Mos Eisley, but it looks too small. I suspect he is tracing Luke Skywalker's past as he learns about the force.
The Jedi and Sith are clearly thought of as a legend, which makes sense considering that they have more or less thought to be extinct for 50 years at the time of the movie. Few have actually seen either in action, and most who have may be dead. Finn and Kylo Ren may be able to access the force, but have to self teach themselves, and can't actually be called Jedi or Sith. Kylo Ren retraces the journey of Darth Vader on his quest to learn the force, and Finn, after meeting Han and Leia, retraces Luke's steps to become a Jedi.

Also, my thoughts on the Death Star. It probably is a Death Star, which I'm feeling kind of meh about. It's already been done twice, so to do it a third time feels kind of cheap to me. That said, if it works well with the story, I can probably ignore that.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

We're discussing trailers in spoilers now?  Is this what it's come to?

I'm pretty sure the hooded person touching R2 has to be Luke.  He's wearing a robe that looks very similar to his Tatooine clothing in Episode IV, he has the mechanical hand, and R2 was Luke's personal droid as well.  Honestly, it wouldn't make any sense for it to be anyone else.  With that said, his otherwise absence from the trailer does seem a bit odd, but I expect all will be revealed in due time.  I suppose the most likely answer is that he's in hiding/exile similar to Obi-Wan or Yoda.  Dark Side seems a bit unlikely (but could be possible).  Perhaps he's become so afraid of his own power he willingly chose to go into hiding?

Also, for some reason I really like the shot immediately preceding the "Luke?" shot (the one with the brightly coloured cloth hanging from the temple thingy and red droid).  I'm not sure why, but it looks really neat.  It makes me want to find out all about this place and the new worlds this film has to offer.
