  • Mark Hamill has been shooting on the Skellig Islands in September 2015 for Episode 8

  • Starkiller Base

Anyone notice the Death Watch symbol at 1:39 in the trailer? It's on one of the hanging flags.

I can't find it. Although I do see the more general Mandalorian symbol on a white flag, neat.

Hopefully you can make it out a bit better. mini/smile I can't help but wonder if Boba's cape is hanging up there (though I know that this particular flag isn't it).

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

I think that's actually the Mythosaur Skull, not the Death Watch symbol. The latter looks more like the end of a fork, whereas this is an animal-y-thing.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

You're right, my bad.  It would seem the symbol is more from the Mandolorian couture rather than specifically the Death Watch (at least according to the EU). mini/smile

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

That scene reminds me of Yavin crossed with the forest temple entrance in OoT. Nothing like Mandalore, although if the planet became run down since after the separatist backing during the Clone Wars, it's possible that could be the entrance to a building on Mandalore.

Also, taking a closer look at that scene, it appears that it's Han, Rey, and Finn together. Could be a Rebel base. Perhaps the Rebels/new republic are allies of the Mandalorians?

And if Luke is confirmed to be in episode 8, he is either in hiding as I suspect is likely, or he could be a force ghost if he's dead.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Admittedly, I am more of a Trek fan. But the new trailer has me pumped. A true sequel with the original characters. Something I wish they had done with the recent reboot of Trek.

People keep saying that Luke is Kylo Ren, but that's impossible because they're played by diferent actors.

Well that's assuming that it's Adam Driver underneath in every scene. Mark Hamill could be in some scenes and not others. They could be pulling a Hot Fuzz, which knowing J.J Abrams, I wouldn't doubt that at all.

Note the final shot where what appears to be an unmasked Kylo Ren approaches Finn.  Black hair.

Spoiler (click to read)

I believe that there was a leaked photo of Luke Skywalker awhile back and he's dressed the part of a Jedi, so I think that would rule out the Luke is Kylo Ren idea.

Maybe Luke dyed his hair after turning to the dark side because he thought being blond wasn't dark enough

It's a possibility

doubt

Also, Kylo Ren's lightsaber is fiery and jagged, and it clearly looks like it was made by someone who doesn't really know how to build one correctly. Luke made his own green one and it looks like the standard lightsaber.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Luke = Jedi
Kylo Ren = (Fanboy) Sith
Or if you all really want to deny this, just await the films release on December 17th.

Yep, Lechnology already linked it a few posts back. Loving the new footage.

Just to throw my own two cents in here, I really don't get the whole Luke Skywalker = Kylo Ren discussion anymore. An issue of Vanity Fair had a ton of official TFA related photographs a while back, including this one.

I'd like to kill the Kylo Ren/Luke Skywalker theory but I don't want to possibly spoil things so just search for Luke Skywalker leaked set photos.
