Well, I copied/pasted the comments an case you edit them l8r, but I'm sure the rest of the forum can also see the difference in tone.  To end the cycle, I accept your apology, acknowledge your decency in doing so, but will no longer respond to or read yr comments on this thread, as I know your opinions already.

Re: Why I won't be watching Lego Movie

I just found this thread, didn't read every post because it would've taken too much.

I disagree especially with you saying Scorsese is one of the most overrated directors of all time, I think he deserves all the recognition he has: after all, he made films like Taxi Driver, Raging bull and Goodfellas, which I think are some of the finest movies I've seen. I'm curious to know which director you think is the most overrated of all, though.

About the rest, yes, I know a movie it's just a movie, but one could argue some movies do indeed tell the truth about some aspects of our lives, as any form of art does, imo.
I also usually don't like to judge a movie without having seen it.

I don't think the message of the Lego movie is that Business man are bad, and anyway, since you already know what is fake and what is not, why shouldn't you go watch it? After all it won't change you, and you might even like it, or discover that the Evil Business Man of the Lego movie isn't as bad as it seems, and that what the Lego Club magazine said isn't actually correct: it might happen.

I'm not trying to convince you to go watch the movie (the trailer didn't really impress me either, the jokes weren't that funny, although the animation looks amazing), it's just that it didn't sound to me a valid reason.

I know, right. Seriously guys, there's nothing left to be said. There shouldn't even be a 4th page. It's time for this thing to die. Just let it be.

Re: Why I won't be watching Lego Movie

I watched Taxi Driver at my brother's request.  He loves the Genre of what he calls "garbage person movies" (One Flew Over the Cuukoo's nest/ Falling Down/ Bad Lieutenant, etc.)  I thought the movie was awful and am amazed by the hype it always gets.  Best part is when Deniro says to sweet Iris, "He called you a piece of chicken." Ive been bored by his other films, the ones that I saw, but that's just me.  One of my favorite films, "2001: A Space Odyssey" seems to drive all my friends to tears.  But we all agree that Transformers: The movie (1986) rocks!

By the way, my brother's first band recorded a song about Sweet Iris with Taxi Driver movie samples.

Transformers (1986)?
Was that the one where they killed off a lot of the 1st generation Autobots?

I grew up on Voltron, M.A.S.K.,Visionaries, Bionic Six, Centurions, Silverhawks and Captain Planet, so watching a full-length feature where so many of the good guys die was not a good experience for me.

Still loading....

Re: Why I won't be watching Lego Movie

They did kill off many 1st Gen TF characters in the real movie.  From memory, they were in order:

Brawn
Prowl
Ratchet
Ironhide
Wheeljack & Sunstreaker
Optimus Prime
Starscream

Others were not killed off, but given new forms.  In order:

Thundercracker: Scourge
Insecticon clones: The Sweeps
Skywarp: Cyclonus
Insecticon clone: Cyclonus clone
Megatron: Galvatron
Hot Rod: Rodimus Prime

And, of course, Unicron dies.

Excluding insecticons, that makes 11 characters from 1984-1985 that were eliminated. Hot Rod is #12, but he didn't appear until the movie & 3rd year of toys (1986).

Yeah, I can recite the entire movie, word for word, timing everything with the soundtrack running in my head so it's matched to the movie to the second!

In GI Joe the Movie (1987), which was made for TV, Duke was going to die, but the bad reaction to Optimus' death changed their minds.  Instead he went into a coma.  They already animated it so he dies, so they overdubbed a few lines: "He's going into a coma", and at the very end, "Great news!  Duke's coming out of his coma!"  I own a VHS of GI Joe: The Movie signed by Sgt. Slaughter himself.
