Damn, I remember the days of BF. Where I first saw Smeagol's films and "The Lego Clan" Good times...
Nah, definitely hetero. But I remember the mods scalding the creator of that thread, and automatically locking any attempted revivals. I miss those days. Sure, it was complete chaos......but in a kids Halloween party kind of way - no real damage was caused and it was really fun for the immature, but a complete nightmare for the more mature.
Does anyone know the exact strike oce that got jailed? That would be great in my movie! Who helped?

I've seen some guys talk about how super serious this all is. Just remember that the idea behind visiting TaaB wasn't doing her any harm or doing anything illegal. We mostly thought it would be good for TaaB to actually meet some of the more prominent people in the community so that this could all be talked over. The plan was that BF would only be taken by force if TaaB didn't see to reason. Alas, she was one step ahead of us. I would've flown in to the US too, but I didn't have the money at the time.
I can't believe you guys haven't heard of these things before.
Eddie - I could give you a list of the members of the strike team (though not everyone on this list actually went out), but I don't want to invade people's privacy. I'll check with them first if I can still get contact with them.
Wow, I knew that a few people had gone to New York to confront TaaB, and that they had found themselves in hot water, but I never really understood the magnitude of what transpired.

Yeah, I would love the site to be revived. That would be a dream come true. I remember that the only rule of the forums was no racism, and people stuck by that pretty well (I doubt any of the people there were actually racist, but still). I was thinking that maybe a new rule or two would suffice, but the reason that forum was so fun was because it had no rules (well, almost). A tiny bit of moderation would be a good idea, IMO.
I also remember having a deep and meaningful conversation on teh lolums about who was hotter: Lindsay Lohan or Hilary Duff. (This was way back before Lindsay had gone all alcoholic.)

Ah yes, the Lindsay vs Hilary thread. I cant describe how much I miss that site....almost as much as BF.......
Don't forget about the hacking incident.
Back in early 2009, a team of cybercriminals on the Adirondack Company's payroll hacked the accounts of several older BiM members. They then used these accounts to spread disquiet, express disapproval with BiM, and advertise a return to BF--their job was to basically attempt to tear the site down before it started. Schlaeps had to put together a team to root them out and take them down... I don't remember who all was involved, but I think Sloth created a tracking program and Aled hacked onto the attackers' computers and installed it. The program disabled the hackers' systems to prevent further attacks and sent us GPS coordinates of the offenders' locations. Once their locations were pinpointed, nearby BiM members were called into service to confront them with the evidence. Most of them admitted defeat and moved on, but one guy in Minneapolis gave us trouble and we actually had to get the NSA involved. But we got him. He's doing 10 years last I heard.
The whole thing was kept pretty quiet (we were all pretty embarrassed about it), and all of the hackers' posts were deleted for obvious reasons, so not many members knew about the whole incident. It was ugly for a while.
We may have gotten ourselves back on our feet but we lost too many people back then. If you could all join me in paying respect to those who never made it to BiM.
I think there should be a sticky somewhere in the forums describing the history of BF.com and BiM.com. Something like this, but locked.

More info!! I love this. Man, hackers attempting to tear down a site (but why this site, its only about brickfilming?) and you guys hacked back, tracked them down! Even dispatched members! This sounds like some secret service organization. Wow. This is officially my favorite thread in the forums.
Only about brickfilming? ONLY about brickfilming? You underestimate the influence of this site; it reaches into even the most upper echelons of power. Examine this recent tweet from Protowrxs, a seminal brickfilmer, if you don't believe me.

Smeagol, didn't Aled call in a swat team to arrest Taab over the fact that she couldn't legally trademark the term brickfilm, but then she used some hired help to kill the team and hunt down Aled?
Jesus, BertL. I had almost forgotten about all that. Again, I'm really sorry that I defecated on taab's car. That was out of line.
