Re: Brickfilm classics

I think as a general rule, any films released after 2007 can't be considered a "classic" just yet, as they aren't old enough. When I think of classic brickfilms, I think of when the community was still located at brickfilms.com. Anyway, as an attempt to add something new to this thread, I think all of Blunty's films could be considered classics. I know a lot of people here might think of him negatively (or maybe they've never even heard of him or were around when he left the brickfilming community, I don't really know how long the average member has been involved in the community), but his films are very entertaining, especially all of his Steve & Dave films.

Wow, this thread is making me feel really old mini/XD

Re: Brickfilm classics

I have always thought Grumpy Monkey is classic Blunty

Re: Brickfilm classics

Man, as much as he bugs me these days, I gotta admit, Blunty was one of the primary reasons I originally wanted to make brickfilms of my own. I remember the first time I went into the brickfilms.com chat, I was like, 'Guys! I love Blunty's films' and people were all like, 'Dude! Me too'. Ah, the good old days.

Re: Brickfilm classics

The first brickfilm I ever saw was "The White Ninja". It's still my favorite brickfilm ever.

Grace!

Re: Brickfilm classics

Today I was thinking of Elumir's 1xY, but I don't know if it can be considered as a classic. I like it a lot, thought.
EDIT: and about Blunty, I always loved his videos and I still love them. I don't see why should I think negatively of him or his brickfilms just because he left the community. I think that the first brickfilm I've seen was All Allows Steve, and I loved it even if I didn't understand what the hell were they saying. I was like 10 or 11 years old back then.

Re: Brickfilm classics

When brickfilms.com was plastic-kids toys, I would consider Errol's "Fight" a classic. It really got me into animating. And I found myself laughing at times too. Probably some of the best Stikfa animation I've ever seen.

Re: Brickfilm classics

Would anyone else consider "Pirate's Quest" by UncleCheesedog a classic?

Re: Brickfilm classics

Danimation, I especially love the end of that movie, I think it could possibly be a classic.

Re: Brickfilm classics

I am a bit cross when people say "Grace" is a classic. Yeah, it's got great animation and all, but there were a few parts that could have been improved in it. Like why were Travis and Cecil so bitter enemies? Going a bit more in depth with the Mechanical body Fabron made would have been better too.
BTW I think most of Vandy's stuff are classics.

Re: Brickfilm classics

Vim, the question you are asking was answered in the movie. They both want the Phoenix badge.

Re: Brickfilm classics

Anyone here mentioned 'Star Wars: The Great Disturbance' yet? It's feature-length!
And the Magic Portal IMO is the first and best brickfilm ever made. Nothing can beat the original.

Belive it or not, the first one I ever saw was FF101's 'LEGO Star Wars: Killing Darth Vader' vid two years ago. I never realised that brickfilms could be better until I joined BiM.

Re: Brickfilm classics

There's a lot of good stuff mentioned in this thread. I'd also like to mention Cleaning Time: The Janitorial Contingency. It's not a perfect film, but it's straight-up enjoyable and notable in its status as first completed Community Project. Also, The Battle for New Orleans is one of my favorites. It's not technically brilliant, but it's memorable and  features some great music.

Re: Brickfilm classics

can you post the links?

Re: Brickfilm classics

Unfortunately I'm not seeing them anywhere on the Internet and I no longer have copies of either. mini/sad

Re: Brickfilm classics

CECIL!!

There is such a thing as an 'instant classic', so the theory that a film cannot be a classic if it was made post-2007 seems erroneous.

I haven't watched enough brickfilms lately to know if there is anything of quality being produced, but I do know how many films aren't being mentioned. But that number is a secret, known only to me. So you'll have to find out for yourselves.

Re: Brickfilm classics

Ladon, talking about classics. When will Fallen 2 be released?

Don't worry, jstudios. The Dark Ages will soon be over. In fact, Brickfilms.Com is being brought back! mini/bigsmile When that happens, maybe we can merge sites! That's what I fantasize about.

Wow...

Haha. I wouldn't want to be there when he wakes up.

I don't either.

Re: Brickfilm classics

I don't see the point of me listing out films that have been said many times already, but I will say I'm glad I started brickfilming just when the golden age died mini/smile

Does that mean I'm a bad omen?
