Fantastic frame by the way. Looks really good and the lighting is so clean... it's just. Wow.

"It's alive!"
Looks nice, also good to see that you're alive. That's always nice...It's less inconvenient than being dead. Or so I'm told.
There are a few specks of something and one tiny hair on his head, but what you've done with the lighting and camera angle look great. The tiny hint of blue also adds a bit of nice color.

I can't believe it's been so long since your last film, but at least you're trying to correct that.

@PixTron,
I like the idea of trowing the old useless computers away willy-nilly like that, but the set looks more like an underground dungeon than an office. The computer tech just seems to clash with the rock walls and wagon wheel, but who knows, maybe you can pull of such a zany combination in a really neat way.

It's a bit odd to see the whole scene so dark, yet a reflection of the lamp in the wall. It looks like you may want to turn up your exposure or get another lamp or two to balance things out. And you may want to position the lamp to avoid a reflection like that, as it reminds people that this is just a bunch of bricks on a table, and ruins the immersive nature of the short.

Hmmmmm...I have no idea whatsoever what this brickfilm will be mini/lol

Looks great, Galactic! My only qualm is that there's a lot of empty space to the left. Even if you're planning to only show a tiny bit of that figure (and I have no idea who that is mini/lol ) I'd suggest putting some rocks or something in that space to the left.

It reminds me greatly of a scene I have planned for Welcome to Darkmoor except it's greyscale with a red telephone sitting in the background.

Thanks everyone. The mark on the top of his head is the molding mark for the hair piece. (Just pretend he forgot his comb...) Kind of hard trying to keep the shots looking interesting, when there isn't much to the set. (It is an expanse after all.) To combat that, I have been experimenting with camera movement. Hopefully I can actually get this film finished, unlike a few of my other projects...

I'm planning to do some dolly shots in my grey expanse.

Also, how did you manage to have the grey fall into total black so smoothly?  I've been planning that for my film, though I haven't experimented with doing it just yet, but I'm wanting an effect basically the same.

I used one lamp, without diffusion. I then pumped up the contrast in post production, which really helped the final look.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I've finally finished a long sequence of shots for Welcome to Darkmoor of the protagonist's car driving along a dark road.  It took me almost two months for just around only 600 frames because I had to keep building then rebuilding the background so that it would appear as though the car were actually going somewhere.

https://scontent-b-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t1.0-9/q71/s720x720/10471318_749777125045632_6258076844267820156_n.jpg

I used acid green bricks for the headlights and shined a black light at them so that they would have a dim glow to them.  Also, I did every shot with a subtle dolly motion going in the direction of the car, which worked especially well for the close up shots where the background was moving rather than the car, as it gives the impression that there is a dolly trying to follow the car but their speeds are not quite perfectly matched.  Somehow if makes it look really great in motion.

Also, this scene looks absolutely hideous in colour, entirely repugnant.  I'll probably show you guys after them film is done.

Now I can go build the town.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Man, I'm looking forward to actually seeing this in motion. I can't wait to see how you've done this sequence.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

As always, your frames continue to impress.
The panning idea is a nice one, and a great way to maximize the sensation of motion without building huge sets or using green-screen/CGI. The set design is well-done, and the tilted angles help give it that nice something-ain't-quite-right-here look. From what I continue to see, this movie is gunna be great.

But as I may or may not have said before, I like that you're sharing a lot, but be sure to keep plenty of stuff a secret. It's best to save at least a few nice surprises for the film, if you know what I mean. mini/wink

Also, I would love to see this in color. Just for fun.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

The coolness emanating from the stills is almost to much to take in... Beautiful set and prop work, looking forward to your finished film! On another note, I have really noticed your influence on brickfilming as a whole over the past few years. Your style has definitely taken hold.

I'll show of sets and pictures now and then, but I am keeping a whole lot of stuff secret for this film.  A whole lot.  There's something slightly annoying about keeping it all bottled up.  I haven't even revealed the names of the characters to anyone not on the project or even exactly what the story is.  But I assure you, there will be a lot of surprises.

Also, I'm keeping almost all of the colour pictures until afterwards because I don't want people to see the film for the first time and then remember how it actually looks because it's so entirely hideous.  I think that's a really good idea.

I agree. I went back and watched some of the animation I did with my MiniDV camcorder. The grain, and "feel" of the footage just looked... right for brickfilming.

This isn't what the colouring of the completed video will be, as I have a filter to apply in After Effects.
I do like how the lighting turned out. I think it really does look like it's early morning in a cafe.
