Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film
Sorry, kind of brain dead right now, I was really impressed with the animation clip you posted, don't really have much to add but keep persevering, looks great so far.

thanks mate, I think it will look alot better with the dust and all....
Wait, are you making an earthquake?
no, Im making a bad guys car drive through a building.....
Sorry, saw the titled building and thought earthquake.
Here's a quick, lo-res (jeez, I hope it doesn't come out this low for real) frame from Vampire Owls.
It's 10:46am here in the UK, and I started working on this at 8:30am. 6 shots animated, 1 of which I need to redo, and 2 of which are now almost completely VFX-ed up. I have to say, I'm very pleased with the aesthetics of this piece so far. I could easily have the whole thing edited (with the exception of the one voice I still need) finished in a day, but I have a lot of exam revision to be getting on with. Maybe Saturday then.

Bad request. The link you followed is incorrect or outdated.
Really cool frame ! The fire could be better though. I really like the set.
That looks really cool, jampot. I'm not too sure about the vignette, though, it seems a big big/dark to me.
I like the scene, and the effect for the flames is clever, but the problem is that they look very dull. They should be bright and glowing, preferably casting light upon the set itself, kinda like this:
Fire looks gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.
I hate you.
wait is this hamlet
Thanks.

Alas, poor Jon, this isn't from Hamlet.
This isn't a frame from my upcoming film, I just wanted to show an example of a lit flame effect for Jampot. I'm not making a Hamlet film as much as I'd like to do Shakespeare, and I'm not doing any film in colour until at least BRAWL if I take a break from Darkmoor for it.
I created this image several weeks ago with the intention of making an especially delightful looking LEGO portrait. The skull is there because I just thought it would be kinda cool to have a skull there. I had been saving this for something else, but I thought I'd go ahead and post it as an example.
Also, in animation I simply rotated the flames randomly, which gave it a pretty nice flickering effect.

That's normally what I do too, although I wanted to experiment and see how I could do the movement digitally this time. What I really want is some LEDs - I think there are some LEGO specific ones called LifeLites or summink - to light fire with.
And I'm glad everyone loves Squid's Hamlet frame.
Sorry, saw the titled building and thought earthquake....
thats fine.
nice frames, my tip with making them glow, just Duplicate the layer, key the flames so that they are the only thing, then just add a glow, easy as anything to do, I did something like that at the end of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKMlUViYZFA
also, Squid, nice frame and all, but the glow feels really unnatural, like its hottest halfway up the flame, not at the base...
I think Squid's effect is probably the best you can achieve without adding a flame effect afterwards.
Trust me, it looks reeeeaaaaal good in motion. This is the big VFX shot for Vampire Owls. The owl flies in, lands and shuts its wings. There's also a moon in the background that I added after screengrabbing this.
Right now it looks silly since the wings are both out and at his side, and he's crystal-clear while just the wings have a lot of motion blur, BUT I'll trust you this once. And the flames look all wibbly-wobbly too.
I assume they look better in motion as well.
Actually, you're right, a lot of things look better in motion than they do in a still frame. While I wouldn't have picked to show off this one, it still gives some idea of all the effects work that went into this shot.
The set looks good, but something in the way it is lit makes certain parts look like CGI.
(The windowsill the bird is on, the bars in the windows) Perhaps a tiny bit higher contrast would help?
Also, the title sounds amazing, and you now have my full attention.
Here's a picture I have from the ODD FRIENDS.
Explaination: Since both phsycotic friends are causing insanity and spreading Chaos, the lonely Mayor is the only possible one who is to be called upon to stop them.
Always on crappy computers, when one stops working, he throws it away and gets a new one, explaining why so many PCs are laying waste to his office.
Sorry if the pic is hard to see, the actual scene is to be a bit brighter.
I also made a cute GIF from the first Scene of the Odd Friends.
