Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

It would be nice to enter this...   not sure if I will.

Great contest, though, Smeagol.

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

Can there be more then one entry since the deadline is far away ?

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

I'm glad that we're getting so much notice about this one. I really wanted to enter STAR, but didn't have time to pull my entry together. I will definitely be entering this. I've already got some ideas bubbling...

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

Wow, that's a long way away. Would all future BiM contests give us this much time? That seems like a lot, and I thought the time frame for STAR was huge. It's good though, because a theme like this might need a bit more time to come up with something compelling. I'll consider entering if I can come up with an idea or tweak one I have now  to fit in here.

I find it kind-of annoying that these contests always seem to avoid the summer holidays for us in the northern hemisphere, but nevermind, we have the winter holidays instead.

It really depends where you live, I guess, for me a July 25 deadline would give me almost all of summer break to work on an entry and I know

For me that's about 1/2 of my summer holiday.

The STAR contest was announced a little late for my taste, basically because it was as soon as I could get it together after becoming admin.  If this contest turns out well, we'll probably use a similarly long time frame for future annual contests, yes.

Yes, although I would encourage spending twice the time on a single entry. mini/wink

I cannot think of anything that pushes the boundaries

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

HHMM  i am definately game for this....but i don't want to jump at it like i did with STAR, (obviously star didnt turn out to great for me due to busyness) I will once again be very busy! with college classes and a job and moving and, hmm lets put aside all that for now and start brainstorming....first things first i can't tell any of my non-virtual friends i am making a movie, because now everywhere i go someone asks me "when is your movie coming out" (which i havent given up on, but most ppl dont know the hardships brickfilming brings) now for an idea....

Wow i havent visited the site in forever!! hm pity, i hate being busy!

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

I think a lot of you guys are a bit off-point here.  It's perfectly fine that you don't have an idea yet.  Use a few weeks to come up with an idea, then go from there, and take your time. I'll throw in a bit of cheese and remind you that Rome wasn't built in a day.  There was no THRAC.  Use this awesome deadline to come up with something truly innovative.

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

I agree with Cheshire, it concerns me that some people are nearing completion or are nearly done scripting.  For a contest where the concept itself is so central, I would recommend thinking of ideas for at least a week or two before attempting to outline a story.  I know I don't feel comfortable scripting anything until I've had a few weeks to think about the idea and whether or not it's really the best it can be.
