Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest
Do you have any details of the 16mm scan of the Magic Portal, will this be the first time The Magic Portal is available in high def?

News update: We will also offer a blu-ray version of the BiM collection for $10 more per tier.
This is great news. I was wondering if this would ever happen but I didn't really think of it as a possibility. I always prefer to buy animation on Blu-Ray so I will definitely be going for this option.

Correct Sloth! Lindsay Fleay has said he would like to re-scan the print which means if you choose to donate enough to receive our BluRay disc copy then you'll be able to watch the Magic Portal in a much higher resolution never before released anywhere online. However I should point out that Lindsay is very busy and hasn't been able to confirm entirely if he will be able to re-scan the film. He's going to do his best and the rest of us are crossing our fingers.
I will provide more information when it comes available
Hey would it work to do a lord of the rings film. I saw the thing about not using themes but I also saw the thing about if its old enough. So Im just wondering.

I haven't read the book or watched the films, but uhh...
Most of that older work has got to be 120+ years old or something. I thought everybody knew that.
The Lord of the Rings is NOT in the public domain, therefore, per the rules of this contest, you cannot make a Lord of the Rings entry.
I would love t see the collection in Blu-ray, but I don't have a Blu-Ray player.....

There will also be a dvd option.
I've sent my entry.
I only just found out about this contest yesterday, but I'm still gonna give it a go! Half of my video is already storyboarded and I'm ready to start filming.
One question, can minifigs from the lego movie be included in my entry so long as the film were completely original? they would by no means be main characters (most likely they won't even speak). If they can't be in it, no problem.
You can use pieces from those minifigs to biuld your characters; however, basing characters in your entry directly on the characters from the movie would be problematic from a copyright standpoint.
Ok, thanks! I figured that would be the case. I'm happy as long as I can still use the pieces, since Emmet has tons of useful facial expressions!
One more thing. Including real, non-licensed Lego sets in the film should be fine, right? Not the boxes or anything, just the brick-built models.

Re-sent. The downloadable link should work this time. Sorry about that.
Mickey, please send the link to the "BiM Celebration" account by private message. If you're uncertain of what's involved in this, there's an explanation at the top of the thread. Thank you!

Yes, those are fine.
Oop, sorry. I did misunderstand. Sent.
Mickey, please submit a link to your entry to the BiM Celebration account, as explained in the "Submitting Your Entry" section in the first post.] This is an account all the judges will be able to access, as opposed to only me. Thank you.
To submit your film, send a link to your entry to our BiM Celebration forum account by private message and email the release form to [email protected].
Our preferred method of submission is unlisted YouTube links. If you do not have a YouTube account, we also accept password-protected Vimeo uploads and downloadable links.
I have sent everything.
Mickey, your link was broken. "Sorry, there is no video here. Either it was deleted or it never existed in the first place."
funmi and JonnDthunDer confirmed.
A few people have noted to me that they uploaded their 30-second video to YouTube and it lists a running time of 31 seconds because of the way YouTube erroneously rounds up. I've encountered this before, myself. Don't worry, we won't disqualify an entry over it.
