When's the results?
Ok,
Okay;
Yeah, it's making a lot of sense.
We're into the second phase of the judging process, now. Out of two phases.
We're only going to announce a top 10 for this competition. The scoring system doesn't even account for ranking entries beyond that, though all judges will watch all entries and evaluate them individually for the purposes of determining this top 10. I've noticed that very few professional film and video contests go beyond that (in fact few go that far) and I think it is a wise thing not to rank all the entries out to last place. My feeling is that judging something like this is highly subjective, so giving categorical scores that invite direct comparisons and ranking out the entries all the way down to last place results in hurt feelings and ill-will.
The biggest problem with scores is that they have to be relativistic, which means that last place often has to have extremely low scores in every category in order to provide a useful comparison to first place for judging purposes, even if they aren't incompetently made films.
I'm very excited about the entries to this contest, the DVD/Blu-ray collection, and announcing the results soon! I will give a time and day for the results chat when we are far enough along in the judging process to make that determination.
Remember, regardless of contest results, everyone who entered will have their film included on the BiM collection!
This is sounding pretty awesome!
