Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

I really want to enter, as I have an idea that would probably work. However, I'm in the process of shooting my big film, which is taking up all my animating space, as well as there's always that voice in my head that says "You will do not work on two projects at once!" I just always get this feeling of anxiety when I try. Still, this is a great idea, and I'd like to be a part of it. So I guess we'll see.

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

I'm probably not going to enter since I'd rather focus on making Darkmoor, but good luck to everyone else!

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

Why isn't Nathan Wells' name in bold in the last paragraph?

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

It is, and I didn't just do this. Unless another mod did it for me after you made that post.

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

Yeah, I totally fixed that

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

Well anyway the reason is because I added Nathan Wells to the judging panel (yay announcement yay!) after he got back from a vacation and I had a chance to ask him, and it was late at night, and I'm sorry alright I'll never do it againnnnnn

I've added an FAQ with some questions I've received to the top post.

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

A: We intend to offer a variety of options for the documentary crowdfunding campaign. The lowest priced tier to include the DVD will be at $25, and include other rewards as well for that price.

That cost is a bit more than some of the early estimates, any particular reason, or just more profit for the project and more goodies for the buyers?

Also, nearly done with my entry, just a bit of sound design to finish.

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

I'd dearly love to enter, but I have too many other projects to work on right now, like Ultron Ascending (which I need to get a move on with, as I sort of have a deadline).

But best of luck to everyone who can and will enter! I can't wait to see what people come up with, and this looks like a great way of promoting the brickfilming community!

The DVD was always planned to be at the $25 tier, it's really the minimum price we could offer and have it be fiscally feasible. It's mostly because it costs us a good bit of money to produce and ship the DVD, and that price includes shipping within the US, but ALSO there are some other cool incentives that will be included at that tier. You get more than the DVD for the money. We also plan to have $1, $10, and $20 tiers that are pretty cool, but they do not include the DVD.

As long as it's no more than 30 seconds long then submit it!

Just to clarify, entries should be exactly 30 seconds (as we want to avoid extremely short entries) mini/smile

I this sarcasm, or are you being serious? Honestly I have no idea. It seems like it would be difficult to keep it 30 seconds exactly, I mean...how strict is this? mini/blankexpression

no more brickfilming *sad face*.

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

I believe it has to be exactly 30 seconds, but you can always tweak titles and stuff to make it fit.

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

I'm not going to disqualify entries for being a couple of frames off, but yes I am serious. As BL notes, using titles or credits is an acceptable way to make it fit.

This rule necessary to avoid confusion because we have had entries to contests in the past that were between 1 and 5 seconds long.

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

is it ok if mine was 29 and maybe 10 frames off from 30 seconds?

Just make the title or credits 10 frames longer mini/smile

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

My computer says it's thirty seconds long but I don't know exactly how long it is. It may be twenty nine and a half seconds.

Re: BiM Celebration Animation Contest

@Tenny,
Throw it into your editing program and look right above the timeline.
There should be numbers that can tell you how long it is.
But if your computer it says thirty seconds, you should be safe.
