Re: Interdimensional Adventures (working title)
I am so glad that the holidays, and all of the associated trips and family obligations and festivities are over! It seems like if I wasn't gone visiting family I was attending some party or home sick, but all that is done.
I am continuing to finish up the animation for the inside of the ship set, frequently something as seemingly as simple as a camera angle change requires the set to be rebuilt and the lighting to be totally rethought.
Since I already have an excellent establishing shot of the set I needed to remove one side and adjust the lighting accordingly. In this light setup you might notice a thin piece of black wrap dangling down, that is to block the green fill light coming from off camera from hitting the back of the computer console.
This shot was something I just added into the movie because I felt like I needed to fully establish how the guys get on this ship. I ended up having to do three takes to get everything right, and even then there is a bit of set bump at the end of the final take. If the clip does flow well and work in the final movie I will most likely try to fix the bump in After Effects, I've done these sorts of fixes in the past and they are more or less unnoticeable.
Feel free to watch all three takes of the shot, you might notice that the first 3 parts of the video look quite different then the RAW footage at the end. The first clips are just quick JPEG sequences, but the last shot was made from the camera RAW format so I could adjust a bunch of color and light/dark settings. The compression is kind of meh, but I'll spend more time finding the right compression for the final movie.
