I don't think so; SlothPaladin hasn't posted in over a year.
Wow, really surprised to see this on the first page still!
So I kind of got stumped on how I was going to light the last set I built and it just sat for months, with me doing nothing. Then I got detracted by bike racing which is an expensive and time consuming hobby, so it sat even longer. The other night while I lying in bed I realized how I should animate the set and that maybe I'm not really cut out for racing. So I have been rebuilding the whole set to accommodate the lighting today.
I took a quick photo with my cell phone to show how the lighting effect I want would look but the photo came out so bad (good thing I don't shoot my animations with a cell phone camera) You can kind of tell that light can come through the back of the set walls, it will probably have some colored effect with a neutral colored light on the minifigs inside the set.
Wow...I'd never seen this thread until you just updated...THIS LOOKS AMAZING!!
Your lighting is ridiculously awesome, I can't wait until this is finished!
I can not promise I will finish it, as it stands it is a complex and long film for me, but who knows I really want to work on it again.
I rebuilt one of the sides and did a quick lighting test, I clearly need some more fill light but it looks way more dynamic then the stuff I had been trying before, now I just need to rebuild the whole set an animate the shots that take place in it
Well if you don't finish please post the finished part.
I'm so happy that this is still alive.
Holy cow that picture is awesome!
Oh, boy!
I was afraid that this was totally dead.
I do hope you finish it!
OK, got the whole set fully rebuilt and the lighting figured out, just need to film a few shots in it before I move onto the next set
Sometimes it takes me about the same length of time to light a set as animate it, this set took a bit of work, and quite a bit of adjustment to get right, the setup is claustrophobic.
YES!! This is finally back! So happy! I hope you do finish it, as it looks amazing so far. Love the picture, especially the lighting and set. Also, is that the inside of the ship or something? Looks like it. Can't wait for more!
These sets are truly beautiful. I really hope you can finish this!
Seriously thank Jesus this is still in the making. Yay.
Wow, this is amazing and I wish you the best of luck on finishing this amazing project.
I made an attempt to animate this shot on Wednesdays but I had some issues with set bump (no surprises there) I didn't have time to re-animate because I needed to go to a friends birthday party. From the footage I did get I figured out a few things I need to do to get the lighting prefect (the lighting is animated) we'll see if I have the energy for anything tonoght. There are two quick scenes that take place in this set and then it's on to the next shot, I am thinking of doing a major wideshot of a city scape, but I'm not sure if I have the bricks I will need for a micro scale city.
After the set bump issues I had last week I got busy, and later slightly sick and couldn't really do anything until today, but I got the shot animated, it's about 16.5 seconds long.
Some of the issues I had were dealing with animating on flat pieces, so I ended up rebuilding the flooring and adding some studs for each mini fig, I did bump the computer and steering wheel but I decided to fix that in post (which is also mostly done)
Just one more scene in this set (which will be from the side without all the claustrophobic style animation)
