Re: Holding Our Own episode 2 production log- UPDATE

I'm a bit offended, Micheal! "That guy" was one of the best teachers I ever had, and the fact that he bikes to work and wears dreadlocks should not be a reason for alarm. In fact, I really admire him and his way of life. Even if you don't agree with his politics I would be fine with letting you voice act, but I won't let someone act if they don't respect the person behind the character!
Now, the community forum and the War Room were closed for a reason, and that reason was to keep flame wars from starting, so I'm going to cut off this discussion before it even starts. But if you feel the need to say something on this subject, feel free to shoot me a PM and we can discuss it privately.

Besides, we weren't "children." I was in eighth grade.

Re: Holding Our Own episode 2 production log- UPDATE

I want to state this publicly just to clarify a misunderstanding.  I didn't mean that his lifestyle or looks should disqualify him from teaching, nor do I disrespect people for their opinions.  I read his test lines, though, and while his beliefs are his own in his private life, political posturing belongs outside the classroom as much as it does in the BiM forum.  That is all I meant.  I hope we are reconciled.  :>

Definitely. Remember that Fabrice the character is not inherently a teacher and therefore his opinions are more brazenly displayed. It's not like my teacher went around preaching politics. I'm sorry for misunderstanding!

Re: Holding Our Own episode 2 production log- UPDATE

It's cool that this worked out.  I feel strongly on education because I once had a college sociology professor who not only was very one-sided in her lectures, but she was bigoted, very hostile toward Catholics.  I also had a sixth-grade teacher that made the class write poetry mocking President Reagan, and we accepted the assignment and never realized that we could question it because we were the students.  All woefully inappropriate, and pretty disgraceful.  And I didn't mean "children" in a pejorotive sense; I just meant that students generally trust what teachers say, because they're teachers.  That gives them a responsibility to not pass off opinions as facts.  I'm glad that Fabrice is not exactly like your teacher.  It's important, when basing characters off real life, to make them NOT the same guy, because then a lot of awkward issues can arise.

Segment 3 was posted yesterday.  It can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jT7XkzHJkCc

Also, I began recording the voice work for Brent and an announcer for episode 3.  I've made a few casting choices for supporting characters in episode 3 that excite me, and I will be reviewing auditions for characters in the casting call soon.  Eric Kutepow (Voice of Mark Manchester) has a casting recommendation for me as well; he says he knows someone with a distinctive voice that I should hear.  I'm also feverishly at work on the cover art for the episode 2 DVD.  So there's always something keeping me busy.

One more thing; a friend of mine requested that I post one of his favorite Tinnitis songs, Cell Phone, on the Net.  If you care, you can hear it on youtube.  It's kind of a Gary Numan meets Kraftwerk song.

While you're at it, if you haven't heard my first smooth jazz song, here's a link to "Natalie Portman Fever"

As I posted int he releases section, segment 2b is watchable, but has a panning problem: a 1-minute or so slow zoom.  I'll be posting a corrected version, but not until some more urgent matters are taken care of.  THe entire episode is now available as a playlist:
