Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Squid, you're brilliant. It looks great.

Issac, that looks so convincing! I couldn't figure out how you managed to do that, but after looking at the set picture, it looks so simple. Great idea, and great execution.

GHB, the eyebrows do look quite fake, and the far right plate has a dirt spot, but other than that it looks fine.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

GHB: Oh, okay! In that case it all looks fine!

Squid: You have saved my butt! Thank you my friend! I have been struggling with side ways running for ages! Finally a solution (please don't go Apple on us and sue us all for using it mini/lol). I will certainly be using this in my new film!

Anyway, on to the actual frame itself. As usual your framing is awesome, but I expected no less! The focus looks marvelous as well (I'm a sucker for blurry things). I also like your house design! Mind if I use the pattern (with different colors) sometimes? Finally, what's that black thing you can see in the top right corner of the first shot? It looks like some sort of flames, but I'm not sure.

Anywhoozles, fantastic job, and thanks for saving me from many hours of frustration!

It's actually pretty easy to make a minifigure run diagonally, but this would be extremely useful for walking.
Downside is it takes a while to set up and you must hide the floor.

I like to share my methods with others.  It's not like I can stop them or anything anyway.  It's a useless effort and nobody likes you for it.
I myself use the methods of other animators, like Fancy's run cycle.

That stuff in the background is a bunch of guns.  Tut's hideout is loaded with weapons and money.

Don't know how well you guys can see it, I'm worried that if I up the exposure then it will look more fake.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

So I'm guessing it's a rainy night scene, oui?  I'm liking the water effects.
I don't know how much control you've got in your software, but you may be able to adjust levels as opposed to the whole exposure in order to highlight certain details, but if you don't have that option I'd leave it.

This is what I'm currently working on.  Having to adjust somewhat from my old techniques, as I've just switched from a camcorder to DSLR.

Great quality and shot, Sam. Super crisp and beautiful looking. I'm sure you're going to love using a DSLR.

Pretty good Sam!

Agree. DSLRs are perfect for brickfilming.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

ANP - Once again, a very nice shot, with great quality. I love the blue atmosphere and camera angle are really nice, and give a good feel to the frame. Also, I love that idea for sideways stud running.
Binding - The frame looks a little empty in the background. However, I really like the water/rain effect...it looks like what Smeagol did in Unrenewable.
Saminatorger - I love the DOF for that picture. The background is empty, but that could just be the location or the DOF.
Funmi - Looks ok, but the black backdrop is easily identified as a piece of construction paper. Also, nice touch with the megabloks, like has been mentioned.

And finally, a frame of my own (for the first time ever). It's from a short-ish fighting/action film I'm making.

I realize it's kinda tan in the background, but that's the only color I have enough of to make the room look decent.
Feedback would be appreciated. mini/smile

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I like the tan.
The quality of the image is really nice too.
The only thing that bothers me is the minifig that's in focus kinda looks like he's bent back too much, but that could be something to do with the film... Anyways, the guy in the background looks great and overall I would say this is a really cool frame! Well done mini/smile

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Yeah, it's a "brickfight," so the minifigs are throwing bricks and stuff. The guy in the front is getting ready to conjure and throw a brick at the other (it takes an effort, so he has to bend back a ways). Glad you liked the frame. mini/smile

So this is my current project.  It's not an actual frame, more of an example.  I wanted to do something based on the 'Battlefield' games again, except this time it's hopefully going to resemble it much more than my previous attempt (which was very loosely based on it).
I was going to do a recreation of the 'Battlefield 4' TV Spot, but I don't have nearly enough Lego or space.
Anyway, all feedback is appreciated as usual, though please bare in mind it's more of a test, as I was trying to work out the best way of getting a decent wide shot and conveying size without showing the edge of the set.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

That looks spectacular, Saminatorger! I can really see how thorough you were with the set design!

About my image, I'd like get some feedback on the look of it. I wanted to get a nice nighttime feel. Any suggestions? I'm open to anything!

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

@legoguy501,
Good job!
I like the frame clarity, and the set gives off a nice "Open area at Tire-Shop" feel.

@Saminatorger,
Nice!
It does look a bit odd with the top row of studs showing in the top-left corner, and the visible edge of the "3" wall over on the right, but if those are fixed, it would be great. I can't wait to see more on this film.

@GHB,
It looks more like a daytime setup with the exposure turned down. mini/wink
I know it's over-used, but color-correcting a bit more blue into the scene would help to give it a night-time feel.
