Re: Q&A Topic

Question: Can I get a full 1080p on a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000?  Or will I have to stretch it in Post Production?

Re: Q&A Topic

Why would you want to stretch it? It distorts the video.

Re: Q&A Topic

He means like would he have to go to Post-Production to his question answered

Re: Q&A Topic

Stretching it would distort the video it would make it look bad, and LegoStickfigs what do you mean?

Re: Q&A Topic

Oh, sorry, I thought something different, never mind.

Re: Q&A Topic

If you want to put it in 16:9, then put black bars on the top and bottom...don't stretch the video.

Re: Q&A Topic

What everyone said relating to Binding Brick's quiestion

Or in, for example. sony vegas, you can have the properties resolution as 1080 x 1920, then import your 720p video/photo. Then you can just zoom in on it so I fills in the rest of the pixels. This would (obviously) degrade the quality, but technically still be 1080p. I recommend not using this method, and either buying a 1080p camera, or just sticking with 720p.

Re: Q&A Topic

Yea...I tried that. It brings down the res quite a bit. Use the black bars.

With black bars (letter boxing) surrounding the 720p video, the size would be 1080p, but the video playing would still be 720p. Adding the letter boxing wouldn't improve the quality even further, which is what I believe Binding Brick wants.

ok

Re: Q&A Topic

Here is my question:
I want to mask out some bricks for 'The Fource' effect but when I take the clean shot (nothing there) and then take the shot with the people and bricks there, the colors change, the background and base plate get a tinny bit lighter and when I mask the bricks out it looks horrible.
I have all the settings set to manual and my lights close, no window light, and no computer monitor.
I don't know why it changes. Is it because when I put the mini-fig in the seen it makes some shadow?

Re: Q&A Topic

It's probably your minifigs. Have the minifigs in both the frame with the object you want floating and the frame without the object you want floating. The only difference you should have between the two frames is that in one, the object you want floating is there, and in the other, the object isn't there. There's no need to remove things that aren't going to be floating.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: Q&A Topic

Or select (trace) the minifigures (or items you're using the force on), then go 'select > inverse' (that in photoshop, similar in other photo editors) and delete the ENTIRE background, just keeping the minifigures. This is what I do, because I usually have the same problem as you: the color difference. Hope this helps!

Re: Q&A Topic

I used to have that problem a lot. You can fix it a couple ways.

1. Instead of completely removing the minifigure, put it to the side so that the part that needs to be masked is not obstructed by the minifig. The plastic reflects a lot of light, so when a minifig is taken away, the light levels change. By keeping it in camera, but in a different spot, you can get a good plate shot without light changes.

2. In post-production, use filters to change the brightness of the plate shot.

In my opinion, the first method will work better, but if you can't reshoot, the second method will do an ok job.

Re: Q&A Topic

How does the Photoshop CS5's Content-Aware Fill work for that?

Re: Q&A Topic

Hmm.. I was thinking of a thing. Alternating Current Electricity is what we have in wall adapters and bigger cables etc.
And that electricity is "flickering" 50hz or something. And so does the lamp then
If You don't cover up the lamp to spread the light it will become darker in one frame and lighter in an another.
But batteries don't flicker (Am I right??). So If you have an enough powerfull battery? Would that be good for filming?

Re: Q&A Topic

Is the Logitech c270 good for stop-motion? I want to have an HD webcam with decent focus, but the problem is, I don't have a whole lot of money.

Re: Q&A Topic

I realized that this camera has fixed focus so its a no go for Brick Filming. However, like i said, the Logitech quick cam pro 9000 can be found for $60 on amazon.

The only two webcams from Logitech that are any good for brickfilming are the C910, and the 9000, as they are the only ones WITH manual controls; a must for animation. While the 9000 is not designed for taking HD images, it is possible to achieve HD quality with it.
