Re: Q&A Topic

Go into the advanced settings on your Logitech Webcam Software and turn your anti flicker to ''off''. See if that works.

Re: Q&A Topic

Thanks VanderFlame, I'll try that.  I never turned it off.  mini/tongue

Re: Q&A Topic

Off?
Shouldn't that increase the flicker?
I just set everything to manual mode, close the curtains on my windows and put paper over my lights.
That usually takes care of most of the flicker.

If you were making a live action video yes it would. But in stop motion it does not help.

Re: Q&A Topic

I tried animating with the anti-flicker off, and it increased the flicker.
If all else fails, use frame averaging.

Re: Q&A Topic

On the subject of lighting, what sort of lights and what makes of light are the best to animate with?

Back after taking a VERY FREAKING long break. 14 months, I believe. Anyways I'm going to be making films again. Much better ones.

Re: Q&A Topic

I just use regular desk lamps.
Also, I have a question: What's the best free screen capture program?
I've downloaded a few, but one takes horrible quality, and the other only exports .SWF files.

Re: Q&A Topic

Don't use really powerful lights.  40 watts and under should do.

I use a 3-point lighting set up.  I have a key light, background light and a fill light.

For the key light I use a piece of paper and sometimes a paper weight.  I do this because it lights up the set more, and more specifically the minifigs face.

Re: Q&A Topic

Edit: Fixed. I simply kept my slider slightly above the very bottom and everything is back to normal.

Spoiler (click to read)

My webcam seems to be acting up, and I'm hoping someone could give me a hand. I've been animating with the colour intensity (or 'color') set to 0 to get a black-and-white effect (which works rather nicely) - however, when I set it to 0 today the intensity began to creep back up of its own accord, until it had a greater intensity than the default setting. I keep dragging the slider to the lowest setting, but the intensity doesn't want to play ball. It isn't the slider that's changing, just the colour. It's a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910. Has anyone got any idea what's happening? I've set everything to manual, but that shouldn't make a difference as it was working fine before, I've literally changed nothing

I don't make Brickfilms. I trade virtual hats.

Camstudio, eh?
I've used it in the past, and I was sorely disappointed by the lagging and bad quality.
Has all that been fixed in the newer builds?

Ehh. If you want fancy lighting 40W aren't great. I use 40W and they won't get through the lighting gels I own.

If that is so then you would use 60-80 watts.

Re: Q&A Topic

Are we talking Incandescent or Fluorescent?

http://i.imgur.com/lZUQ9.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/9CQIM.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/YZLtR.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/ICcjc.png

Re: Q&A Topic

I use fluorescent and incandescent.  But mostly fluorescent lights.

Re: Q&A Topic

What you want is a fluorescent that creates an incandescent colored light (i.e. it's yellow). I can't stand office-building style white lights.

Re: Q&A Topic

I'm getting some mysterious light flicker... I blocked up my windows and my door is closed so the only light is from my two lamps. All the setting on my camera are on manual... I could post some pictures if it would help. Any ideas what it could be? mini/confused

Re: Q&A Topic

Hmm... It could be you being reflected off of the bricks. Sit to the side of your set. It could also be your camera. With my webcam, it flickers a little bit. Frame averaging fixes that.

Re: Q&A Topic

It is most likely your camera brenden17.  Even if you set every setting to manual, there is still probably some settings it sets itself, and doesn't allow you to change.  For more info, check the Resources section!
