Please stop asking questions about every single aspect of your film. You know what makes a film fit the theme, and it's choices like ^this^ that determine how many points you get for the 'theme' aspect of the judging. You have an initiative, use it.

I'm gonna make one of Paul Revere and the British. mini/lol "THE BRITISH ARE COMING, THE BRITISH ARE COMING!"

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

OK. I saw on the copyright rules it said not to use star wars characters ect. Well, I was thinking of doing a war. And the best looking soldiers I can get for the job are the toy story 3 ones, can I still use them? PLEASE! mini/bigsmile

As long as you don't refer to them as Toy Story soldiers, yes.

Well, I would've eventually found that out. In the time that I have (which is a lot), I was planning to do some research on it. But thanks anyway!
Edit: Can I use a car in my movie as Paul Revere's horse? Because I don't have any horses.

Guys, no need to ask so many little questions that shouldn't need answering.  We're not going to disqualify you over any of these little details, though the more historically suitable your story is, the better it is likely to fair in judging.  In the words of Sméagol:

If it's got a historical setting/basis, you're fine, folks.  Please don't ask for every specific plot idea if it fits the theme.  The key is that the contest is historically themed and we want films that aren't set, at least entirely, in the present day, this can take many forms.

Don't ask if you can make a western and ask if specific details from it are acceptable, just make it and surprise us with the specific details that are in the final film.

The only concern is the copyright thing, if you mention something you're fine but yeah you can't base your story around copyrighted elements.  So including LEGO characters with the same complete designs and names wouldn't be acceptable.

The minifigure design is trademarked, but use of them within brickfilms seems to generally fall outside of the realm of infringing on their rights.  As long as you avoid the aforementioned issues.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

If one buys a track off of iTunes to use in their film, is that alright, or will the WGM mute the video?
Specifically, I wanted to use "Soul Man", by the "Blues Brothers".
EDIT: Maybe this should be in the YouTube thread.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

WMG have no idea where you got your music from, so yes.

It's easy enough to get your audio back though.

I WILL enter this. mini/smile

You can do anything, just have fun while doing it.

I don't know the answers to questions about youtube, but of course there's no way you can use copyrighted music without a license in TOY films themselves if that is what you mean.

So what you are saying Smeagol, is that I could have Toy Story 3 soldiers, but I couldn't mention "Toy Story 3" in the film, what so ever? (In case you are wandering, I have to check this question, because the Soldiers are pretty much the main characters)
