Guys, if it has history in it, even fictional events in a historical setting, then that's totally fine.

Myths = fictional events
Ancient Egypt = historical setting

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

i am a bit confused about the theme... so the only requirement is that it is in a historical setting?

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

Hmm, that was what I was thinking. Can we have a history setting, but the film it's self is not historical?

That doesn't make any sense. If your film has a historical setting (meaning it is set in the past) then it is a historical film. Don't make this more complicated than it needs to be.

To put it bluntly, all you need to do is set your film in any time period before the present day. It doesn't matter what happens, or whether it's based on a true story, just as long as the setting is not too recent.

Right Okay then. Maybe I will make up a film then mini/tongue

So what you are saying Hazzat, that if I really wanted I could have it in the 1800's with people flying on jets and watching TV? mini/lol

That's called steampunk.

Seriously though, I don't think that wouldn't really constitute an historic setting. Please, you are deliberately trying to complicate things - it's not half as complex as you're trying to make it.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

Hmm a Steampunk film. In my opinion it is way to fantasy for a contest that is suppose to be based on history.

Seeing more Steampunk films would be way cool though.

And you are making it harder to understand, Hazzat. You just said that if I had an Historical Setting that would be allowed yet you have just said "I don't think that wouldn't really constitute an historic setting". I thought a historical setting was supposed to be BASED in the past. I did not realize that the people there had to be. People on previous pages are showing time travels. The same idea that I will be doing. But that means that I can't have a modern day person in a historical setting then? Oh, nevermind! I'll just go ahead with my idea mini/tongue

(Not directed at you ^, StormTrooper)
This thread is filling up with junk mini/confused  Read the thread before posting.  Let's not end up with a fifty page thread with the question "Does this fit the theme?"  Also, as Mason posted, try to have the bulk of your entry discussions in this thread TOY idea discussion thread

Let's try to keep this thread for the more important updates and questions about the contest, not story ideas mini/wink

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

could we do a "what if" theme? like what if the ussr bombed us during the cold war a sort of alternate-realitty thingymabobber?
