Awesome. Hopefully this contest will help me get back into making brickfilms. I'll have to see how much this conflicts with school, since it starts a week after this contest. I really want to make a film for this.
Also, shouldn't the Events page be updated?
Schools starts in September but whatever, I want to enter!

Sean, I might make the fact that this is the pre-announced official BiM contest a bit more prominent, seeing as that important nugget of info is currently hidden in post 29 of the thread. My jaw hit the floor when I read the initial announcement, thinking it was yet another competing (albeit well-executed) contest, and considering the internet's ability to read entire threads before posting, it'd probably be a good idea to make things a little more brick-in-the-face obvious.
I'll reiterate that information in the first post then. Personally I felt the "BricksInMotion.com Presents" made it obvious and that's the first line in the thread.
In the way of sound effects, can we use purchased (or in the case of freesound.org, downloaded) effects, or do we have to create our own?
In most cases when you purchase sound effects or download them from places such as soundsnap.com or freesound.org, the rights to use them in your own works is included. If you're unsure, make sure you read the terms and conditions of the place you obtained the sound.

Many thanks to Brickhead for getting this all together, I wanted to have a September contest and had the basic concept laid out for it but lacked the time to devote to it that would be necessary to run it properly right now.
I'll try to get the events page updated soon, once I have access to the BiM files, etc. (out of town)
Concerning the theme I would elaborate that it won't be quite like the traditional THAC or BRAWL themes; it shouldn't be difficult for people to interpret but it's more of an element of how the film is made than a plot device.
My lamp should be fixed before this, I might be able to enter! 
Looks very interesting and exciting! This september will be a lot of fun.
