Topic: Motion Blur Test (HD)

Your-Tube

Here's a test I made in MonkeyJam. I myself think that it's a cool effect, so I will use it alot now. mini/bigsmile
I also managed to convert it into widescreen and HD Which I am so pleased with. And being as I converted it to a different format, it dosen't take up much space either. Infact the raw footage (the 1 second of the man running) took up more space than the finished product!!!

So, please tell me what you think. And by the way, I know I messed up the run at one point, but that was an accident, so sorry. mini/wink

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

That really well made! I liked it alot! I didn't even notice that you messed up the run at all! (Until you told me that is. mini/lol) Good job!

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

its too much. it should be like half that blur amount.

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

I thought there was a little too much motion blur. But it was really good.

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

Yeah, you're all right about there being too much blur, sometimes it's like there's another minifigure behind him. I won't ever use this for any running in films anyway, it would be more for swords, guns, etc. And this was more of a test to see if this works. mini/wink

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

It's not really motion blur, so much as frame overlaying. I've never liked this technique, I couldn't really focus on the run because of the high level overlapping.

Well, this kind of thing you either love or hate. mini/wink
Anyway, I won't use this loads, it's more for stuff like propellers spinning really fast- the kind of thing you can't physically take a still picture of.

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

Sorry, but it just doesn't look like motion blur at all. Motion blur is the effect you can see on the cars at the start of this video. What you're doing is just really strong frame overlaying, which just makes it harder to watch the video. Completely different techniques.

people pizza!!

motion blur example.

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

How did you DO that?

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

To be honest, I really couldn't care if it's not officially motion blur, or even if it isn't at all. I am still gonna use it for films, because it's so simple to do.
Also mobiledeli, I'm sorry but for some reason I can't watch vimeo stuff.

If people really want to know, I may make a tutorial.

And anyway, this was more of a test for HD than anything (Which I'm SO happy with).
Thanks for all the help guys.

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

FilmFire96, Roryl was talking to Mobiledeli. You used the filter in VirtualDub.

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

yeah filmfire the "blur"... it looks like a mistake.

Sorry, my mistake. And when you say 'you' is that to me of him?

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

I'd assume Mob just masked the elements and applied directional blur. Y'know, to create 'blur'. That's how I do it on still photos.

Filmfire, your particular case of 'blur', isn't really blur of any kind. It's a transparent offsetted animation on top of the other animation, like two frames ahead of it.

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

Filmfire96, that was directed at you.

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

I'm sorry if this really isn't that good. Infact I wouldn't have uploaded it if it weren't for the HD.
Also Real Brick, I didn't use virtualdub filters at all. No, I used another layer in monkeyjam. I only used VD for converting to HD. And it was also my first test with monkeyjam too, so I'm still learning. I'll make sure it's perfect before using it in any films. mini/wink

Re: Motion Blur Test (HD)

By the way, here's the test I did a few months ago with motion blur. The 15fps doesn't suit the action, but check out the motion blur. Pause around.
Good luck mini/wink

Personally, I like LEGOs not to have motion blur, at all. I think it looks better without it, it looks too gimmicky.
