Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

I would say that for this contest you should probably avoid explicit depictions of illegal drug use / injection / smoking.  Some alcohol use is okay as long as it's not done in a really tasteless or offensive way.

As far as censored language goes, that would be fine if the words are really censored and not just fBLEEEEPking or something like that.

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

This came from a discussion we had in chat about the contest, thought I'd reiterate it here.  I hope people won't agonize over the theme so much that they are afraid to try and just give up instead of making an entry.  The point of this contest is to encourage people to step outside the style and conventions of 98% of brickfilms right now, which are for the most part really similar in almost every way; show me ten recent brickfilms and it's unlikely I'd be able to tell you who made which in most cases.

I'm not giving up!

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

Well, after a long think about this year, I can't enter. Not because of the hard theme, but because this year is a very difficult and important year for me. None of my weekends are truly free. If I had time I would enter, with no problem. But with a very important exam next year, I can't. Ah well, good luck to the rest. mini/smile

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

The only reason I haven't entered is that I don't have any ideas on what film to make. Well, apart from Unstoppable, but that's not really a very unusual idea...
But I might be happy to do some special FX if I can figure out how to do good FX in After Effects.

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

Damn, so many people aren't entering!

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

Thats good for people who are entering.

Persist.

Sweet indeed the less that enter!

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

I'm going to enter. I have an idea, but I think it might be too short. But it is easily above 30 seconds, so I guess it's OK. The story is relatively Avant Garde, but a certain effect is very much so. I'm almost positive no brickfilm has used it, and no stop motion at all, except one timelapse I found. It might be what everyone starts doing in 20 years, who knows. Due to it, there will be only one long scene with no camera movement, and animation will take a lot longer. I think it will make everyone say wow.

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

I have an idea of how to go about getting an idea, so there is now a slight chance that I might be entering.

I most likely will if I can make one quickly.

I do not care about your opinion, unless it has to do with it needing more ponies.

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

I'm definetly entering, I have written my script and got most of my voice actors back, i think it will be at least 10 minutes long

Killed by the husband, drowned by the ocean, shot by his own son, he used the poison in his tea an kissed him goodbye, that's my kind of story, It's no fun 'til someone dies.

Hmm, I might have time after all...

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde [CLOSED]

Ooh, interesting. Is it still going to be some sort of series? I'm interested to see how my voice part (which I tried out for and wasn't included) will be used.
