To maintain certain quality values, only films that have get a Staff Recommended status appear on the front page. All three of your films are in the directory (accepted December 1, December 22 and January 18, respectively) but none of them got a Staff Recommended status.

I'm not sure, but your problem may be that you have to submit the film into the directory and a thread in the releases forum will be made automatically.

I bet he's trying to upload his movie to the thumbnail uploader.  The thumbnail uploader is for a low-resolution image of your movie but yeah, it needs to be hosted elsewhere on a video hosting site like YouTube.
