Topic: The Chat

A few things.

First off, we need more people in there.  It is boring.  I tend to stay on IRC all day, in about 15 channels over 3 networks... #brickfilms is one one of the more dull rooms.  A few people get in there, but conversations don't last very long.  I know a few names who are in there a lot, but
Second, we need Brickbot! (LJ... mini/tongue )

Perhaps a new AJAX chat like the old one schlaeps made would be nice.

Safari can’t open “irc://irc.msgplus.net/#brickfilms” because Mac OS X doesn’t recognize Internet addresses starting with “irc:”.

I would just be happy if it was possible to have a little thingy on the main page of the forums (or at the top of the site) that said "X number of people in chat". That way, one could tell at a glance if there were people in there.

I've gone in twice now and both times there have been people logged in, but nobody said anything. Presumably they were "away" or something and didn't note someone new had come in.

The Ajax chat was awesome.

Smile and say hello to people. It costs you nothing and can brighten their day.

I think he's asking why there aren't any people in chat lately.  It's true, whenever I go in it's just Haz (who is not really there) or sometimes LegoShark.

Maybe if people stayed in there for more than 2 minutes more people might stay!

What ususallly happens is people join, then leave, then someone else joins once they have already left. Then they leave because nobodies in there, just a big cycle.

The chat is in progress. We have a somewhat basic system down, but are ironing out details such as how private chatting should work, and other little details. I *should* have some better update for you guys soon. Hang tight. mini/smile

I'm there if I'm online, though no one else is, and I stay until I must leave. With the chat, say my name, and it may make a noise for me to know you are there.

As soon as LegosJedi has time to finish it, I suppose.  There's sort of a feeling that we want the range of functionality to be comparable to an IRC chat rather than the old Brickfilms chat, so it'll take some time to get everything we want implemented.
