For until that happens, you could try to take an IRC bot, and find a way to make it pull info from mySQL, and have a temporary IRC, that asks your BiM username and password when you log on to it, and then gives admins +q status, moderators +O status, and users +V status, judging from what it finds in the forum permissions in mySQL.

Yeah but wouldn't an influx of users say for the STAR results cause a problem?

It's possible. Although we know any kind of IRC chat has problems.
Also, when I try to get on the chat it leads me to this weird website. I can still acess the chat but still.......
We should hopefully have the chat finished before STAR, no need to put that much time and effort into a chat this temporary.
lil'jj, I changed the chat link to a mibbit portal for people who don't have a client installed. Personally I still use Chatzilla, it's possible to connect from the client without a link. The server info is irc.msgplus.net and the channel is #brickfilms

If you be patient, and wait a little bit someone will come in, and then you can chat, Some one just came into the chat while I was away, they said a few things, and then left, before I could say hi, those who are in the chat already are probaly doing something if they don't notice you, like while I'm typing this post. Also, if you're using the Mibbit chat, there is a black bar on the side taht says idlers, click on it, and everyone in the room who hasn't said anything since you entered name's will appear there.

Woo, I just got another 24" monitor this week, so I think I'll keep chat open in it's own window more often
Hmm, I'm getting an error stating my IP has too many connections. I only know of one connection; the one I'm trying to establish. Any ideas what the problem may be?
That happened to me once or twice, you could always use Chatzilla or another client instead, but usually waiting a few minutes resolves the problem for me.

Sometime. I wanna say by the end of the month, but it really all depends on when things get finished, the number of bugs that need to fixed, etc. But I'm hoping soon.

And Brickbot.
Brickbot was a nuisance. As discussed in the other chat thread, there are no plans (to my knowledge) for his return.
The original creation of BrickBot was for integration between the IRC chat and the site, much in the same way that the old BrickFilms chat integrated with the site and showed the users in chat and the current chat topic. Now that we control the chat and have access to its source code, we can go ahead and integrate that with the forum with little effort, and, thus, BrickBot because unnecessary.
The chat seems to be down for me. Anyone else having issues?
