Here's an alien head I've been working on for the past two days. It's still got a long way to go (like building the rest of the body, shading it, coloring it, rigging it), but I'm quite satisfied with the modeling for the head. I'm not exactly sure if I will make it just have a standard body or more of a wacko, weird body design.

Awesome head BG!  Can't wait to see it animated!

We know that this may seem like a pretty stupid question to most of you guys, but how do you animate in Blender?  We experimented a lot with the timeline and action editor, but when we tried using the same technique we used in Carrara (moving the timeline to a point on the timeline and then moving the figure), it didn't work.  We tried using pose markers and regular markers on the timeline, but with no luck.  Please help!

You need to insert Keyframes.  Press I and some options will appear.  Answers also found on one of those Blender sites.

ive got aproblem with the fluid simulator in 2.53 beta its just not working ive watched countless tutorials but ery time i bake nothing happens any help would be appreciated

Not too much. I use MLCad to model my Lego stuff, and I use LeoCad to export it as a .3ds, which I then import into Blender. MLCad is much better at modeling than LeoCad, but in MLCad you can't export as a .3ds, so I use LeoCad for that.

Does it need to run in 'compatibility mode'? It's pre-Windows 7, so most software before 7 has to run in compatibility mode.

I didn't have to when I downloaded it onto my Windows 7 computer.

Double post!

I have a question for everyone. How do you turn a text object into a mesh in Blender? Is it even possible? And is there any way to perform a Boolean type modifier, or something that gets the same result, and use text as the object it deforms around? Thanks.

Edit: Oops, I found it after a long while of searching. Press Alt + c and choose mesh.

You can build your models in 3D in LeoCAD.  In MLCAD, you can only build in 2D, but you can still view the model in 3D.  LeoCAD attempts to place a piece you add into the building field to the right place, but it's not very smart.  MLCAD let's you set the unit increments (including stud space and angle of rotation) but has no smart alignment feature.  LeoCAD has recently updated its software and library but you still have to manually add newer parts to its library.  MLCAD has direct access to you ldraw parts library folder and all you have to do is rescan the parts folder in MLCAD.

Exported 3ds models in LeoCAD appears to have been scaled down by 0.8 compared to using Blender to import Ldraw models and exporting them to 3ds, which stays to scale.

LeoCAD's fig generator is crappy, it uses an old fig arm piece instead of the current ones.

Nice, although it looks like one of the 1x1 round plate is in the wrong spot (look at the upper left corner).  In fact, look in the middle, the control panel is also overlapping.  I think you need to check on your Ldraw model or fix it in your 3D modeling program.  Also, you need to fix the normals on that slope piece on the lower right.
