That's no problem. I should have said it earlier ![]()

I am now 100% sure I'll enter.
What about a CG rendered backdrop with animation?
Okay here was the following idea: In case I would like to include a scene where someone looks out of the window of a spaceship, and he looks down to a planet, I would use a backdrop picture.
What if I would like to use a backdrop animation, say the planet rotates, or whatever. ( I actually think about something completely different but this example works as well).
How do we make sure, this was within the 24h, and not rendered weeks ago?
Should one include the mod in the animation? Could look insanely freaky?
Cheers Arend
Yes, and also on Brickfilms.com.
Yeah. But not so much brickfilms.com... It's more a BiM contest. The only reason I posted the thread on bf was because some people there don't visit here
I'm only going to be in the BiM chat. I'll probably post a link to the "THAC 6 Starts NOW!" But I definitely won't copy the thread and post it because I'd have to answer questions on both forums. And I'm not doing that.

You're allowed to use CG backdrops as long as it isn't an animated backdrop. Your backdrop might not fit with the theme anyway if you cheat and make it before the 24 hours.

I think animated backdrops should be allowed, as long as the mod element is somewhere visible in the shot (as always), but not necessarily in the backdrop. Using a pre-rendered backdrop is, in my mind, just the same as using a pre-built model in the film, which is obviously fine. Keep in mind that the backdrop would only be part of the shot; there would still be a stop-motion component.
I'd just like to say that I'm entering THAC 6. By the way, Happy New year!

The problem I see is that one could put tons of animation in the backdrop, and fitting the mod element into the CG is the simplest thing imaginable. So I tend to agree with Stevie here, backdrop prerendered okay, as long as there is no animation in it. That would be anyway the simplest rule to check.
The more I think about it the more CG becomes a problem...
Does anyone remember the THAC 4 entry from I guess Lech, that was highly CG and the mod element was insanely subtle (like the shadow of the snow together with the border of the foot). Is there a "the mod element is not suppoesed to be subtle as hell" rule?
Cheers Arend
Last time, I actually cropped out the mod element from the final version of the film, but uploaded a video demonstrating that it was there.
I might be in. I'm not sure. Its really, REALLY early for me.

No. A link to the "THAC 6 Starts NOW!" thread on here.
same.
I'm entering. Hopefully I'll be buying some LEGO tomorrow so I can make some nice-ish sets.
And hopefully it won't be so terrible that I'm too embarrassed to post it on the forums like last year ![]()
I just set up my other camera, I'm planing on filming a THACumentary ![]()
I'm not going to make one, since I don't have another camera. Just as well, if I did try and make one, it would probably get in the way of making my film anyway.
