Actually BrickLord, I think MindGame suggested The Game.

His long list can be found on the second page.

That's why I said 'I thought it had been mentioned already'. My bad.

Wow, amazing.

You can do anything, just have fun while doing it.

Re: The 2009 Bricks in Motion Awards: Potential Nominee List

Yes I agree.

For Trubador by Jason Boyle for Best Film.

Re: The 2009 Bricks in Motion Awards: Potential Nominee List

I'd like to throw in "Don't Be A Jerk, It's Christmas" by Garret Barati for best film/best set design, and "Trinity Help" by Trevor Boyd and Steve Ilett for best visual effects.

Re: The 2009 Bricks in Motion Awards: Potential Nominee List

You know, I've always wanted to see a 'Most Entertaining Film' Category, because most of my favourite films this year are not necesarily ones that would fit into any of these categories. And 'Best Film' means 'those with best technical aspects overall'.

Also, 'Best Director'? Two people who would fit this category are Hazzat and Mindgame. These are people who have consistently produced enjoyable and high quality films throughout the year. In addition, they are both supportive and freindly members to this site.

For Trubador by Jason Boyle for Best Film.

Thirded.

I don't want to start a rebelish fight here, but it seems with the influx of brickfilming series (Steve & Dave style) an award for best series would be in place. That's just MY OPINION THOUGH D:<

Best Film means what it says; technical aspects count, but factors like story and entertainment value are just as valid, and I think we are well aware of the danger of going simply by style when nominating films.

Re: The 2009 Bricks in Motion Awards: Potential Nominee List

Plant - Best Visual Effects

The Game - Best Film

Culmination - Best Sound Design

Tim and fRED Halloween Special- Best Animation

Re: The 2009 Bricks in Motion Awards: Potential Nominee List

I think Darkman's 'Time' was pretty good.
I nominate it for Best Original Score

I WILL GET THAT FRIKKIN AWARD

Has anyone mentioned fallentomato's Nightly News At Nine? How does one nominate a series?

Dangers? Do tell. I think Max and others are right. Having extra categories is a good idea. The most entertaining or funny film might not even get nomiated for best film.

Re: The 2009 Bricks in Motion Awards: Potential Nominee List

I do like the idea of a "Viewers Choice" best film award, as it opens it up to everyone and maybe recognizes some work that might otherwise go unnoticed.

But I think we should stay away from adding too many additional categories. If we include Best Comedy and Best Action Film, where does it go from there? Best use of animals? Best sneeze? Best film by a guy named Mike? Giving out more awards kind of seems like it would diminish the value of those we already have.

Re: The 2009 Bricks in Motion Awards: Potential Nominee List

Viewers Choice would a great award, I think it will be more fun for the whole community to have their opinion in the BIMI's

Obviously Best Comedy and Best Action Scene would work as there aer so many films that fit. You dont have to be a jerk about it (its xmas)!

Re: The 2009 Bricks in Motion Awards: Potential Nominee List

How about these additions?

-Viewers Choice
-Most fitting to Genres "Ex. Sci-Fi, Horror, Comedy,..."
-"Unforgetables"(ones that were well known and loved, but other films beat them in categorys)

Re: The 2009 Bricks in Motion Awards: Potential Nominee List

Okay, I'm open to the possibility of a "Best Film" award determined by user votes, in addition to the regular best film category.  I agree with what's been said about the problems with genre-based categories.

Should this viewers' choice award be completely write-in?  The limitations I'm thinking of are that you would have to have registered in 2008 or earlier (including Refugee Camp), and you cannot vote for a film in which you had any involvement.

And claskey/brick4brains, just because you've given yourself a bad reputation on this site doesn't mean you can start a new account and pretend to be new.  Though reading a couple of claskey's posts made this pretty obvious to me.  We have had this happen a few times in the past and it's frowned upon.
