Should this viewers' choice award be completely write-in? The limitations I'm thinking of are that you would have to have registered in 2008 or earlier (including Refugee Camp), and you cannot vote for a film in which you had any involvement.
I like that. I also think that you should not be allowed to vote for any movies that have been nominated. I can see 'Best Film' also winning 'Viewers Choice' - which will eliminate the whole purpouse of having 'Viewers choice'.

In b4b's, um, defense, the signature wasn't written by him. But with the exception of a few practical jokes we haven't allowed people to get away with this in the past, either, it's happened several times.
I definitely disagree with the idea of not allowing the best film nominees to be considered, I wouldn't be surprised if there is some correlation between the two but ideally I'd like to collect votes for best film before the nominees are even announced, so that the two will not directly influence each other. Ballots would be secret, and we would not announce the result for this extra category until the full results are in for the rest of the categories. The purpose isn't just to award a different film, it's to give the general body of users on this site a chance to interact with the BiM Awards.
For anybody wondering, the awards themselves are judged by the BiM staff and beta testers / board of directors, which is a hand-picked group of senior members who also provide feedback on site development, etc.
Picturesque by Nick Durron for Best Film/Best Visual Effects.

Picturesque was released 2010, it cannot be a nominee I believe.
Well actually it was posted on BiM this year, but it was on youtube Dec. 31. So technically it might be considered released last year.
I'm not sure exactly when the cutoff is, but in my time zone I posted it here in 2009. I hope that's good enough...
Yeah, it would be somewhat pointless and mean to rule it out against Nick's intent.
Yeah OK, after watching it, I definetely agree ![]()
Hey, I'm not saying I liked it. ![]()
It was 2009 in part of the world, you intended to have it out for the 2009 deadline so yeah, it'll be counted for 2009.
Personally the only category I see Picturesque as a top contender for is visual effects; however, it's solid enough in some other areas that it could end up getting other nominations on my ballot depending on the quality of competition. There are a few supposedly good 2009 brickfilms that I haven't watched yet.
The Chase (Best Animation) Filmyguy1
Meet Kazzoo - 2nd (Best Animation)

Shattered plot, god-awfull voice acting, but brilliant CG. I nominate it for Visual Effects ONLY.
