Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

The head should be rotated to the right more if you want to match it to the picture.

I just posted this same post in the wrong topic without this extra sentence, here it is again!

These will be starring in my Animation Challenge brickfilm. Yes, if i'm correct, the Animation Challenge is indeed more for just making an animation but i've decided to turn it into a film. I'll start building the sets for it today aswell, and hopefully i'll be able to shoot some pics this weekend.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I don't like the hands on the two guys on the right - they're too bright and incongruous with the characters - but overall these figs are pretty solid. I always love it when people use the Agents body armour piece  though I'm not sure why he's wearing glasses and a set of goggles.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Well their hands are meant to stick out though, and i surely managed to do that, right? I disagree that they don't fit with the figures though, i tried to pick colours that looked fine with it.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

It's mainly on the guy with the monocle. He has purple hands, but there's no purple anywhere else on him. I'd give him brown hands but it's your character, so if you're happy with it then that's all that matters.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I really think the purple fits well with the gold. The guy on the right's torso has some green accents aswell which the green hands fit nicely with, to me.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

The guy with the glasses looks like a dad, maybe change his face, unless that's what you're going for.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Nothing too fancy here, but I just posted this image to my tumblr page.  It depits Melissa and Johnny Strange from my series, and Melissa's six teenage friends.  The bakground is the back of a Mixels case:

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Your sigfig is such a playa.

There are so many minifig parts in that image that I'm jelly of.

The only criticism I have is that the femfig at the back with the red-red hair looks a bit out of place, but only because she has pure black eyes while everyone else has the white pupils. Other than that, they look great.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

That one in the back is Chay, who is Melissa's best friend.  She has been seen already in Episode 2.  The mother, Angela, has similar Paradisa-retro eyes.  Actually, Jampot, I'd like to know which pieces you like from this.  Are they certain body parts or accessories?  My wife made some of the characters from Lego store parts so you might find them there.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Unfortunately there are no LEGO stores anywhere near me, but the parts I like are the flowery purple top, the Ginny Weasley hair, the bright red hairpiece, the black hairpiece on the femfig at the back left, with the purple streak in it, and your sigifig's mohawk (which would be great for a Kid Omega or even a Kid Gladiator minifig).

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Jampot, I know how hard it is to get to a Lego store.  The nearest one to me is almost 2 hours away and in a different state!

The purple top came from a minifig I bought from Apple_Blossom_park on ebay, who sells a lot of female minifigures.  the red girl is from ebay too.  The black hairpiece on the skateboarding girl is the skater girl from the mystery minifigure packages.  I think it was series 6.  The mohawk is from the rocker guy, series 4  That's Johnny Strange, the girl in the pink's boyfriend.  Those 2 are main characters in my stories.  The rocker guy and skater girl are the figs you get; I didn't swap anyone out.  (The girl in pink is a combo of series 2's pop diva and lifeguard.)  The weasley hair came from a Lego store.  I use bricklink sometimes to find girl pieces, too, since they're much harder to find than guy parts.
If you have a paypal account, give bricklink.com a try!

By the way, that cube with the numeral 4 is a real Lego piece.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

My only problem with bricklink is that you can't view postage at the checkout. Most sellers that I sometimes think about buying from are from the US, so I'd like to know how much postage is before I commit to buying anything.

Here's the priest from HOO Episode 3:

Shopkeeper in episode 3.  He looks like the bassist of the punk rock band THE SHECKIES.  They want to make a Lego-animated music video so this guy will double as him.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

My only concern is with the priest, where you can't actually see much of him

I know this is a minifig Pope, but I'd make a priest's robes a similar way. Priest garments can be beautiful, and I think it would look amazing if you could convey that onscreen.

Still, I don't think having the cape cover most of him works. Forgetting making robes, a much simpler plain black torso with a tiny paper of white paper stuck to the top for the collar would work better.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I don't know if you have animated a minifigure wearing a cape before, but be forewarned: it can be a huge pain. I animated with a cape in The Meek and the Bold and it was especially tricky to keep the cape in place and not have it "jump about" frame to frame. I'd recommend finding a way to sticky-tack the cape to the minifigure's torso.

Also, keep an eye out for dust and hair. They show up a lot more on cloth capes for some reason.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Jampot: That is a cool costume for the Lego Pope, but I have a purist pledge when animating my series, where everything captured by the lens, except a blue wall for a sky background, is a legitimate Lego piece.  Sort of a challenge of mine.  Thanks for showing the pic though!  It's okay, because a Catholic priest or Monsignor's robes usually conceal the clothing underneath.

Nathan, thanks for the tips.  I actually did animate the priest before, and actually figured out that tacky stuff was useful.   I reshot it the second time when I wasn't pleased with the results.  The second take was the keeper and actually turned out well, but it was lost in the hard drive crash.  So I'll be taking my experience from the past takes and adding your advice on dust, etc.  Thx both of you.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Got a couple to upload here.

Also known as Agent 19, Bobbi Morse AKA Mockingbird is a biochemist-turned-SHIELD-agent-turned-Avenger. She'll be appearing in Avengers Tower: Ultron Ascending. The head came from my first ever Bricklink order. She's one of my favourite Avengers in the comics.

Next is an updated Jing Lee, and a Jiang-shi (a Chinese energy vampire). Jing's torso, and the vampire's head and torso all came from the Bricklink order. I got a bunch of other parts too, but I haven't used them for anything yet.

Thoughts, anyone?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I'd love to say more about this than I already have, but basically I think these figures are downright brilliant likenesses for the Marvel characters, especially the Silver Samurai.
