Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

That looks really cool, rioforce. Is that a castle? Because if it is you might want to consider how easy it would be to get shot through one of those windows.[just thought of that because of a "Brick journal" about castles I'v been reading] Otherwise that set looks amazing, and even just this snapshot looks good.

Hope that helps

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

Thanks for all the comments, guys, I appreciate it. mini/smile

@Divine, I'm glad you like the room, the floor, and the aspect ratio. The stuff outside the windows is actually my desk, a lamp, some cables, and a few bricks. The exterior isn't done in that picture, I was mainly featuring the set. mini/wink

@bataton, Yes, that has been pointed out before, and I am well aware of her decal hair being red and her hair being brown. I don't really see it as an issue. It seems to blend well on-camera (in my opinion). I don't like red hair, and they don't have the style hair I want in red, so I will just make do with brown. mini/wink

@osom, Yes, it is the interior of a castle. I did think about how easily someone could get shot from one of those windows, but I am unsure what I really should do to it, because it's technically period accurate, seeing as they didn't have any glass (and I don't want a really dark and closed up castle like in real life) mini/wink Thanks for your suggestion though.

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

Well double post time. The casting call has been completed, and I will begin storyboarding shortly. I threw together another test frame to work on my lighting, and I need some opinions on color correction. Which one looks better:

I guess there's no particular time of day set in the frame.

That frame looks amazing. I love the lighting.

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

I like the second one because of the more golden lighting. One thing you might want to watch for is lens flare. (Helios I presume?)  There is a bit of flare right above the window which looks somewhat odd considering that the sun is outdoors and the flare is indoors. mini/confused
Glad I can be a part of this, and looking forward to the end product! mini/bigsmile

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

I think the first one is way better. It still gives a yellow feel to the light, without over doing it. The second version looks like you just had your white balance set incorrectly and didn't bother to fix it.

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

First one looks a lot better than the second one. The second one is just too orange and not as professional looking.

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

I like second one best.

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

I really like the first one. Im thinking the colours fit the outdoor a bit better. One thing that might help the frame just a bit is to move the background back just a bit so you can't see what the clouds are made of. But over all thats a beautiful frame, and Im really liking the way this film is looking so far.

Keep up the good work

I think the first one looks better, it kind of has that morning feel to it.

The first one looks better.
I hope that you will put something on the outer side of the wall though, the light coming through the wall doesn't really look good.

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

First one, the color palette isn't so flattened out with yellow.

Not a big fan of light shining between seams of the bricks. In my most recent brickfilm I cut pieces of black wrap and taped them to the other side of the wall to avoid this.

The first one.

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

Thanks for all the opinions. A lot of people like the first one, I see. I guess that is because of the depth of color I have. I will keep that in mind for the film. mini/wink

Yes, the Helios is prone to many lens flares. I added a celing to the set, but I suppose it wasn't tall enough. I did notice the flare as I was capturing, and thought it was kind of cool, but you're right, it's not correct at all. I'll be sure to watch out for that stuff in filming.

Yeah, I didn't really like that either. I tried adding some construction paper (all I had was red paper, so I went with it) on the back for this shot, but it didn't work, obviously. I'll definitely have to get some black paper or something similar.

Now for the update.

I am slowly receiving all of the voices for my film. I am very excited to begin filming. I should be doing some animation tests before hand though, just to practice up on my technique. Yesterday, I built a castle hallway set. It's kind of dull right now, I'll need to add some banners, armor, chests, etc to make it more interesting. But for the time being, I added some dramatic lighting to test it out. How do you like it?

I like how it's compact. Just gives a good feeling to me. good contrast too. Reminds me of Hogwarts just a little.

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

The window acting as the light source adds a really dynamic element to the frame. I also like the minifig's reflection on the wall. Great stuff, rio!

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

Princess Storm has always been my fav minfigure from the Kingdoms line. But besides that, this project looks interesting and I hope to see the completed film. I liked your fight test. Your set looks really cool and I can't wait to see what other details you plan to add.

Keep it up! mini/bigsmile

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

Those look great! It really looks like it's part of a big castle!

Re: Princess Storm - Production Topic

Today, I was working with some in-set lighting so I can begin filming soon. This is what I came up with:

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7686/17414133935_0a7bd47e7e_c.jpgBy the Fire by rioforce, on Flickr

I used a string of LED Christmas lights that fit perfectly into LEGO sockets, allowing seamless integration of light into the fireplace. No, this isn't a real frame from the film, but it's a proof of concept either way. mini/wink
