Just saw The Boy and the World at SIFF and it was an amazing visual and sonic journey, hopefully it can get distrabution soon so more people can enjoy this film, when it opened I was riminded of the Secret of Kells however the story telling was closer to that of The Triplets of Belleville

How To Train Your Dragon
Absolutely fantastic. The best mainstream animated film since Shrek 2, I'm incredible glad I watched this. The visuals were breathtaking, but the film's main strength was its soul. The first scene with Hiccup and the dragon Toothless...the characters' expressions say much more than I thought possible from an animated film. Not that I have a problem with CGI animation, but I think it has limitations in terms of expressivity compared to live-action.

And the ending. Totally brilliant. Had a very refreshing twist

as Hollywood doesn't normally like to show the consequences of heroism.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

The problem with this one is that they have neglected to establish an interesting villain with a coherent motive. The back of the DVD case actually says, and I quote:

...but for Ivan Vanko ("Whiplash"), it's revenge!

Is that all? Revenge? For what? I'm actually trying to remember back to some point in the film where Tony caused Vanko to want vengeance. But, I can't come up with anything.

Same goes for Garry Shandling's character. He's only in the film so we can see his funny face. What's the point of having him written into the screenplay? When does he contribute anything or do anything key to the storyline? I understand that he's there to threaten Tony in taking away his suits. But, other than that, why can't the screenwriters come up with good reasons for having a character exist in the film?

Other than that minor plothole, the sequel is visually appealing and fun. But, when it comes to the best in the series, I gotta stick with the original. Probably not a minority opinion, when I take a glance at just how well it did with film critics.

Iron Man 3 (2013)

Oh, why can't Jon Favreau still be the director? This new guy stinks!

Okay, to his credit, he doesn't "stink". He could have done a lot worse with the Iron Man trilogy's third installment. But, it just isn't the same without Jon, because the new guy takes thrilling superhero movies and gives them

Spoiler (click to read)

supernatural twists (Extremism), which is something that isn't too common...when the supernatural occurrences aren't happening to the protagonist(s).

New guy, new twist.

Still, it isn't the same without Jon. But, it is cool how, when the films progressed, his role in the film as Happy Hogan grew. In the first film, he's only in there for a scene or two. In the second, he actually gets the chance to kick some butt with Black Widow. And only now, in the third film, when he's not at the helm, can his role come into fruition.

I'll address the Rhodes issue here, since Don Cheadle also plays him in the third film, and not just the second film. I'm just gonna come out and say it: I don't care. The first dude (What was his name again? Ha ha!) just isn't memorable as a character. Don is memorable, and like Happy, we get to see more of him as the films go along. And I like that, a lot.

So, to sum up, the atmosphere is different, since it isn't the same director, yet Robert Downey Jr. still keeps his charms in his titular role. There are plenty of surprises in the film (one of which was spoiled for me, and the other wasn't, so I really was genuinely surprised when that one came along) that you're bound to enjoy. The action is still there, so if you're looking for a gripping Iron Man sequel, here you go.

However, this is my least favourite of the trilogy. It seems that the films got worse as they went along, which isn't too uncommon for movie. But, that's just how it works. Everyone loved the first one, everyone hated the second one, but when Iron Man 3 came along, that's where the opinions of the film got really mixed. Either it was awesome, or it sucked. And while it doesn't "suck", it just isn't my personal favourite.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

I thought this movie was a very good movie to watch when time is available. I mean it wasn't perfect but it had a nice plot, but sometimes I would have to ask questions to myself.

Robocop (2014)

Not nearly as good as the others! They turned a action film into a drama, the first hour had no action what so ever! Don't watch unless bored crazy

The Hobbit: The desolation of Smaug.  Very good.  Lots of creative Orc killings.  The one's head flies & hits the camera.  I liked when they were disguised as fish.

The Amazing Spider-man 2

This is by far the strangest superhero film I've ever seen. The dialogue was quirky and untamed, while the story really never seemed to gain an identity before midway through the film. Dane DeHaan and Emma Stone were brilliant, as usual, but unfortunately for them their performances kind of saved the film. Andrew Garfield was overly strange in this one and acted WAY to much like a hipster. Don't even get me started on Jamie Foxx's Electro, which had a terrible motive to go after Spider-man. The action was also pretty weak, considering how well choreographed action sequences are now a days. The score was suitable, but nothing memorable; overall, it was a decent movie with a boatload of flaws.

22 Jump Street

An engaging plot that differentiates from the first, a film that's not afraid to embrace its flaws, and a script that puts the whole theater in stitches makes for one of the better made sequels in recent memory. Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube, heck the entire cast gets a seal of approval for being more uncanny and hilarious in this installment. The music was good as well, making this a complete film. While not better than the first, that certainly does not mean this films isn't any good.

Aside from Electro, and a few other bad lines in the finale, I really really enjoyed TASM2. Then again, I'm quite forgiving of a lot of flawed films, but there were some standout performances in this that made it worth watching.

For me, the prequels are generally a never-ending source of disappointment, except for The Phantom Menace (that includes Jar Jar, who as a character I hold dear). For me, they're kind of rough spots that have some amazing bits in between, but that's just my opinion. As a rule, I go to the Expanded Universe canon whenever I have a hankering for Star Wars these days.

I agree that there were some standouts, but I felt that TASM2 had so much potential that it didn't live up to. While it's certainly better than TASM and the crap-fest that is SM3, I still don't rank it higher than SM and SM2.

It's main problem was that it was too much of a setup for Sinister Six and TASM3, without fleshing itself out properly first. Harry Osborn, in both his guises, was really underused and his motivations for the finale not given enough setup.

X-Men Days of Future Past

The past was good, but the future a little confusing for someone who doesn't read the comics. The film fell on its own knees with a poor introduction to the scenario, and throwing people into it. Not everyone who watches it reads comics.
