The part at the credits was really cool. We see Loki's staff and then two people "the twins" in two rooms. One with super speed and another with a power much like The Force. Now I can't wait for The Avengers: Age of Ultron! mini/bigsmile

That's Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Scarlet Witch has some insanely cool powers in this movie - according to the actress, Elizabeth Olsen, she acts as a nexus between beings in different universes, futures, pasts, and even between the living and the dead.

Yep, I did some research after the film to find out who they were. I'm really excited for The Avengers 2

Holes (2003)
I loved it. I remember watching this when I was a kid, I don't remember any thing about it though. The acting was mostly good. I really like the story. This movie was awesome. There were a few things that I don't like though, like how,

At the end when the bad guys were getting arrested, that was a good happy ending. But then it started raining and it was just to happy and made no sense. It hasn't rained there in forever then it just comes when everyone is happy and stuff. Pffffttt

Anyway, great movie.

Dark Skies
This movie was boring, and the acting was wierd from time to time, and I didn't like the characters. This movie wasn't scary at all. I was bored most of the time I was watching it.

And the worst part was when they 13 year old dude was talking to a girl then he said "You've been a bad girl" then touches her boob, which he got from some !@#$ movie and then she pushed him and called him a perv(paraphrasing) and then she finds out that he's never kissed a girl so she kisses him...

The Heat
I really liked it, the acting was good and it was funny. The twist was predictable though.

Man of Steel

It was really good.  A lot of people seem to not like it very much, but I do have a tendency to like a lot of movies which other people really hate.

I really liked the scenes on Krypton.  The design of the world had a really beautiful surreal look to it with some very clever imaginative concepts.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Godzilla [2014]

It had some flaws, like it just needed a bit more focus on Godzilla itself. I appreciated the slow buildup at the start but I think after they properly introduced it they should have kept the focus a lot more on Godzilla.

Overall it was pretty cool though, mostly succeeds in its spooky atmosphere through some neat cinematography. The climax was also great.

So yeah, just a bit more monsters and a bit less people after the second half or so and it would have been better. Even though it had flaws I had a great time, probably just because I freaking love giant monsters. Probably why I like Pacific Rim… and Shadow of the Colossus… and a lot of things with giant monsters.

Go see it if you’re into big spooky monsters.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I saw Godzilla (2014) last night as well.

I loved it, the movie was well-crafted. One of the main reasons I saw the film was because of two spectacular trailer shots of military fighters crashing into the ocean in front of a boat, and the teaser trailer's HALO jump sequence. That was just the tip of the iceberg. The entire film had excellent cinematography and visual effects, and I want the sound designer to win an Oscar. The soundtrack worked very well with the film and is one I plan on buying.

I only have two minor problems and that is that the characters in the film weren't that great, with the exception of Bryan Cranston's character, as many on the military characters felt like movie monster stereotypes, and the protagonist wasn't interesting enough. Like jstudios, I felt sometimes they cut away from Godzilla when things were getting interesting and focused on the humans instead.

I liked Pacific Rim, but Godzilla in my opinion was a much better movie in terms of realism, plot, and cinematography. The plot in the Godzilla movie had about one small hole that could be easily closed up, and multiple times went in directions I wasn't expecting it to go (ex. subverting an event you expected to happen from near the beginning of the film). The cinematography was very good in terms of gradually revealing Godzilla and conveying a sense of awe, terror and even sadness depending on what was required.

Go see it, it's pretty good.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The LEGO Movie (2014)

Depending on your zip code, you have the opportunity to catch this one at the dollar cinema. If you don't, you'll have to wait for it to come out onto home media next month. My family went to see it, along with some friends.

It's still my #1 favourite animated film, I still love it, and I still cry throughout it. I'm not 100% sure why, but seeing a legacy built upon my favourite childhood toy just makes me shed "happy tears" for some reason. It's still as good as my first watch.

But, this time, I paid a bit more attention to the details in the background than to the story, because there are just too many things going on in this awesome film. Doing what I did might just help you to enjoy the film a little more, and you might just laugh at more things.

Spoiler (click to read)

For example, a page in the instruction booklet had a drawing of a minifigure flashing another minifigure, and one might not expect to see that in a children's film. But, of course, this shot is so brief, that most viewers might not even notice.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

So, I've been busy watching several movies over the last twenty-fours hours...
First watch on all of these by the way.

Hunger Games
What's so great about this? It's not terrible, it's not great, it's just good.
This kinda blurred into the next one, and I don't remember any real flaws other than a noticeable absence of music in a number of scenes. Also, it may be commendable in one reasoning, but Katness really didn't do much other than hide in way too many trees and just watch stuff happen. She only directly killed once, (or twice?) leaving the rest to others or indirect causes. Effie's dress sense is terrible, and she in general drove me nuts, but Haymitch made up for her. Some stuff was barely explained, but that aspect isn't as bad as some say.

Not bad, but not that re-watchable. Over-hyped, but not disappointing.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire
This one was a bit worse. It took FOREVER to get to the arena, and once there is was mostly drama and/or running, little fighting for the big build up. There were some illogical things going on, and some very, very convenient events and quite a number of things left unexplained. Perhaps the third and fourth movies will fix this one's mistakes.
And Katness still can't hardly kill, and Peeta is even more useless and helpless. And the love-triangle was annoying.
The ending left a lot of unanswered questions, and not all of them in a good way.

Bit worse, less rewatchable, not as fun.

Amazing Spider-man 2
What to say, what to say...
It was long, and had a lot going on. It had some great moments, and executed Peter's love of being Spidey and helping people very well. Harry's arc was a bit rushed, but seeing it transpire was still pretty sweet. Wish he had more time to use, and a longer build-up would have really made things all that much better, but it was still good.
Rhino was under-used, and essentially the scene with him in the armor was a bit unnecessary and fan-servicey, but he'll probably be back in the sequel. Electro was the weakest part of this movie, his motivations were poor and while he had some cool moments, most had more to do with the visuals than his character and/or development. Max was just stupid, and sadly seemed to be cracking even before his transformation,] leading to less pity and sympathy with him later on.

I'll say it was less focused than the first movie, and did a great job with most everything.
I like it a bit more than number 1 right now, but Electo hogging run-time for the little pay-off may get old after a while.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Godzilla

Wow, I really liked this movie. I have been a fan of Godzilla since I was 8, and this was definitely a return to form.

While I do agree that seeing a little more of Godzilla would have been great, I did find the sparseness of his appearances to be quite reminiscent of the original 1954 Godzilla. He is a looming force, a natural disaster, and to put too much focus on him can take away the impact that he has when he appears. Cause when you see him, it is a spectacle.

While I do agree that many of the characters were a bit dry, it was never to a point where I was bored. Brody or whatever his name was, was a bit bland and unemotional at times, but when you think about it, EODs kinda have to be really calm and collected in tough situations. So while it doesn't necessarily excuse his little character development, I still don't really mind the way he acted and found him compelling enough.

Spoiler (click to read)

As for Bryan Cranston, I did find it a bit jarring how quickly he was killed off with how much he was hyped up in the trailers. But at the same time, I'm honestly not sure what he would have done if he'd stayed longer. Just stand by Dr. Serazawa and watch some monitors. For the time he was on screen, he delivered a great performance.

Also, that climax was freaking outstanding. That HALO Jump with the 2001: A Space Odyssey music just sent chills down my spine. And to finally see some great monster action left me really satisfied.

In all, I really recommend this movie. Just don't go in expecting some avant garde masterpiece.

Godzilla (2014)

Oh god, where to begin...
This movie was all over the place. From the story, to the screenplay, to the actors, everything just seemed mangled and convoluted. I am one to say that I was completely misled by the trailer, as what occurs in the film is completely inaccurate with what was depicted in the trailer. The story seems to jump from place to place to place, without taking consideration of time and current events. The humans also seem to just be 'players in a game' as their presence is completely unnecessary for the vast majority of the film. The screenplay was just abominable, with some of the driest lines on the face of the planet. The poor screenplay prevented me from having emotional investment with the characters, and I sat in the theater bored most of the time. The acting was also pretty poor, with the only good performances coming from Ken Watanabe and Bryan Cranston (For what it's worth, Elizabeth Olsen was decent, but not great). Everyone else, especially Aaron Taylor-Johnson, was dry and unemotional, with acting as stale as two day leftover bread. The poor delivery from the soldiers just made me cringe, and almost made me laugh; it was a travesty. The bombastic and atrocious score just furthered my disappointment. The film's saving grace were the effects and climax; the effects were eyegasmic, with some brilliantly constructed towers and monsters. The climax was awesome because we got to see

San Francisco totaled, military soldiers sky dive out of a plane, and Godzilla take on two humongous MUTO's

Overall, this is the biggest movie disappointment I've seen, besides Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (I was not even 3 when The Phantom Menace was released, so I don't consider that a disappointment). While certainly better than it's abysmal predecessor (Godzilla circa 1998), it's still not a competent film in the slightest. Thoroughly disappointed.

Yellow Submarine

This is, in great contrast to the previous "Magical Mystery Tour," a pretty decent film... Actually, pretty good... Actually, pretty great! The plot doesn't seem like filler in between the songs, and, actually, if the film could have cut anything out, it IS some of the songs. Yes, I think that the story is that good!

Now, of course, it's no "Citizen Kane," "Casablanca," or even "LEGO Movie," but, "Yellow Submarine" is a special film. It's artsy, fun, and, overall, holds up pretty well for a film made in 1968. This is one animated film to watch, weather you're a Beatles fan or not - It's not just a cash in on their fame - This is actually a story, with some silly characters, and interesting animation, and, it works. I'd recommend it to anyone else who likes animated films, especially ones in the same vein as Scooby-Doo, or the Rankin&Bass holiday specials, both also from the 60's.

It's fun, it's grand, and, unlike the Beatles other film attempts, is no mystery. This is a fun adventure that I'm glad I was able to go on. So, I say, if your willing, travel to Pepperland and ride the ride that is "Yellow Submarine"!

She's supposed to be like that. Almost everyone in the Capitol is a symbol of excess and decadence. And it takes so long for them to get to the arena in Catching Fire because the plots not about the actual games - the games are just a complication.

I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to Mockingjay, because in the book Katniss is an emotional wreck who only really does anything significant in the third act - when she finally realises that she doesn't listen to anyone, that this whole love-triangle thing makes her look extremely selfish, and that she goes to the hospital so many times it makes a good drinking game.

Oh, the book's great because you see this all from her point of view - so you really get the sense that she's losing her mind. But since film is much more distanced, there is a danger that Katniss will just look completely useless until about midway through the fourth film. In fact, the main problem with the films is that because we're not inside Katniss's head, a lot of her actions are completely unjustified and thus look stupid. She does something very, very rash at the end of the last book which I'm sure is going to make a lot of people mad come the film version...

X-Men: Days of Future Past

What an adventure.

This film is able to gracefully correct the errors of the previous movies all while establishing an entirely new and different world than the past. The story is well thought; most time travel films are trivial, this one comes across as an intelligent take on righting previous wrongs. It's a beautiful story. The writing is also exceptional, with some well needed wit in between the vast amounts of dark, stark emotions. The acting was superb (Due in no small part to James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender), the action was stellar, and the music was wonderful. I didn't know how they were going to connect the original trilogy with the new cast, but Singer and his crew were able to do so flawlessly. Looking very forward to watching X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016.
