Unfortunately, I haven't seen most of these films yet, so I'm just gonna root for Gravity and The Wolf of Wall Street.

The only movies I've seen on this list are the two which have Benedict Cumberbatch.
As usual, I've missed most of the more popular Oscar films.
Oblivion or Elysium should have been nominated for Visual Effects.
Interesting, although I'm only interested in BAFTA instead.
I can't believe The Croods got nominated for best animated film, I found it quite horrible. Unfortunately, I haven't seen many -if any- of the others.
Yah, not a great year for animation; no Pixar and no stop motion features, so I'm pretty unimpressed. I too missed a lot of those films, and am disappointed Tom Hanks didn't get nominated for best actor in Captain Phillips; his performance is a huge part of what makes that film worth a best picture nomination. Also, nice to see you on the forums again CrazyEd.
Obscured Outlooks didn't get nominated for anything
Disgraceful

I'd say two films from non Disney/Dreamworks studios (one directed by Miyazaki) and the best received Disney animated feature in a decade or so is a decent crop. They do seem to struggle to fill the category with five nominees, but... Shark Tales got a nod when they were still doing three nominees for the category. Take that as you will.
Then again, I thought The Croods was enjoyable. Not award-worthy, but hey- it had Nick Cage playing a hyper-conservative caveman. Isn't that what the movies are all about?
In my humble opinion, Gravity is the best movie on the list. However, it seems that the best movie rarely wins Best Picture.
I wish there was a category for Best Movie Poster. But that's just me.

Good idea.

I think that Monsters University should have been nominated instead.
Oh, Monsters University was this year, I thought it was 2012 for some reason. That definitely should have been nominated; now I'm really disappointed. I've heard Frozen was good, but I had trouble justifying going and seeing it in a theater, I'm sort of tired of Disney, to be honest. I'm also disappointed The Secret Life of Walter Mitty didn't get nominated for best cinematography, the whole thing was basically one dynamic beautiful photograph.

Neither Tom Hanks or Robert Redford up for best actor. Disgusting.
So many snubs...
So the only films on this I've seen are Star Trek, Iron Man, and The Hobbit, and I didn't really like any of them (those are the ones that I went to see with friends/family so obviously they chose those). But I've wanted to see Nebraska for a while and I'm glad that finally a comedy has a chance to get a lot of awards. I'd better watch it soon i think.
Oh wow and look Merly Steep is nominated AGAIN
oh wait, I did see the Book Thief, which I really liked. Too bad it was not chosen for more things than just the music.
and also at least leonardio has a chance at an award this time ^_^
Merly Steep
Are you sure?
Man, I knew I should have seen Gravity. But no! I decided to go and see Catching Fire instead...
Looks like the nominees this year are just a direct copy of the Golden Globes (no surprise there). Meh, nothing too eye-catching. Glad The Wind Rises was nominated for something, though. But, I'm a little confused as to how a Jackbehind movie gets nominated for an Academy Award...
