Looking fwd to this feature, Squid. Is it all right if you showed some of these in color, just for fun so we can compare the two?
I am trying to build the set for my movies climax on a set that is loosely based off the Large Hadron Collider and this M-Tron thing but with a classic space color scheme, any ideas and suggestions are welcome.
The square tubing is not permanent, I am ordering about 50 billion 'yellow modified octagonal 2 x 2 x 3 1/3' bricks from Germany, sadly I couldn't find large enough quantities at a reasonable price in the states.
Pipes and hoses. Either a few for a clean look or lots for a crazy scientist look.
Those octagonal pieces, they're official Lego pieces? I don't recall ever seeing them, but they are cool!
Yeah, they mostly came in a bunch of Aquazone sets in the 90's.
Loved those sets as a kid!
Yeah, the yellow straight octagonals were only in two Aquanauts sets, both which were more expensive bases. I was really big into the Aquasharks, and my brother had the Crystal Crawler that has the 4 pieces featured in the set right now. Looks like they came out in 95, which was about 6 years into my LEGO addiction at that point.
I remember playing with one at someones house, but, yeah, I too was hatched in the year of 95.

Here is a Hydra Tank Drone I've made for my Avengers video.

And part of the Hydra base. It's suppose to look like a run down building from the industrial age of Germany.

Wow that looks pretty sweet. Your set building skills are really improving.
with the hydra tank, maybe make it so it's turret can swivel... otherwise, cool
EDIT:
now, I know these are low res, but, here's something I made for the bad guys:

I'm not really the best at greebling things up but this is the design I am trying for my interior, let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions
It's looking good so far. My only suggestion would be to try to make the greebling less symmetrical, if you're trying to go for a more messy, oil rig look. Besides the crumbled wall, everything else is essentially mirrored.
Thanks for the tips, I think I am going to keep most of the structural stuff symmetrical with a lot of the detailing unsymmetrical, I also don't think I will have the luxury of differentiating between light grey and light blueish gray bricks, but I think the mixed colors work for this set
Looks nice. It has better lighting than your previous picture.
Same lighting, it's a cell phone camera vs DSLR
I built this just for the sake of building it, but every time I look at it I get film ideas, so it might show up somewhere.
Ooo, I forgot, it's supposed to be a hover skiff thing, I just realized I should have put it up on some translucent bricks to highlight the fact, woops.
