I think maybe what Blue is referring to is the fact that the darker shading of these emotes means the facial expressions are a little difficult to make out. I'd agree. However, I think a small increase in the contrast reduces this problem substantially, like this: (original:
)
I also think the laughing emoticon needs some work, it looks a little off somehow. Something more similar to the original (with a bigger mouth) might help.
That looks terrific, Sméagol. I'll swatch the yellows from your head on the updated ones.

The one's I've updated so far to have a squarer head do look better. With the smaller head and Sméagol's yellows, I think you'll all like them.

Here's the updated emotes and some new ones.
I did an off-topic one, but it seems to break when I upload it somehow. I'll work on that... In the meantime, what do you guys think of these? I used the yellows Sméagol suggested and bought the foreheads down 1 pixel, so they're squarer. They've definitly improved compared to the originals I did, so that's for your input everyone! Keep the feedback coming.

Speaking of Lego emoticons, do any of you internet picture thieves out there happen to have the one I made several years ago that had a lightsaber? I seemed to have lost it.
The new ones are fantast
EDIT: The eyes and mouth seem a little too close together on the laughing emoticon.

I think I'll use Sean's emoticons.
I'm definitely liking these new emoticons. Although I fell in love with the older ones because of their historic-ness and how cute they looked, the newer ones fit better with the new site and are just as cute as the older ones while being a mix between cartoon-y and real. Looking good, Sean.
All of the credit isn't mine - you guys are the ones who suggested changes
I like the updated versions a lot, the contrast/levels adjustment seems to give the features enough clarity. The talk to the hand emote is clever as well. I still wonder if the laughing emoticon might look better with a little taller mouth like the original. Perhaps it's a little too slow.
I'm not sure what emotions Indiana Jones or a pirate would convey, though they're nicely drawn.
The hat for Indy and the pirate were made Lego, I just slightly edited them. I just thought they'd be fun, for example there's an Indy emote on the BF chat.
I'll play with he laughing emote when I get back from dinner.
The talk to the hand emote is clever as well.
Looks like a facepalm to me. Actually, if we had a facepalm emote, then that would save an awful lot of facepalm pictures. (Here's looking at you, Max Butcher.)

The same reason we had that one.
Oh I definitely like these ones - especially 'talk to the hand'. Although I suggest, if you want to make them a little closer in the way they're laid out to the old ones, take the original gifs and using them as a guide (because these newer ones seem to have the same basic shape). And the green should be lighter on mrgreen I think.
Can I get in requests for the Spam Mallet, the exploding computer, the crying emotes and the eye twitch one?
By coincidence I stumbled across a few I'd made during a similar topic over at the 'other site' whilst hunting down my avatar in my photobucket account.
The sweatdrop ones need some work, but for an idea of what they should be conveying, the first one is ¬.¬; and the second one is ^_^; - both of which I use a fair bit and have never found an emote to match (except for the one for ^_^; on deviantART, which mine is based on). And the blink one, well, I've found that to be the only fitting response on occasion, and there has never been a emote for it.

I just got back from dinner (horrible service, we were waiting two hours just to get our meals) and I'll work on some more tonight/tomorrow.
I made with the intention of it being a facepalm emote. However I agree that it works a lot better as a "talk to the hand".
Blue; I did use Blunty's emotes as a guide when I made mine, as I basically wanted to put a fresh new coat of paint o the old ones. However I did make SOME changes to suit the slightly different shape and shading style. I only made changes for the sake of improving, not just for the sake of making changes.

Sean...the 'facepalm' emoticon is absolutely brilliant. And an excellent alternative to the popular 'facepalm' pics. Reminds me of how much fun the 'headbanging' and the 'spam mallet' emots were. Makes me wonder if a 'headdesk' would be possible.
Blue...the sweat drop with the ^_^ face rocks! Maybe some emoticons with anime faces are in order?
I don't want to overload Sean with a ton of requests though.
Bring the requests ON! I need a break from web design and code, and these emotes are quick, fun jobs that will hopefully be added to this community. Even if they don't end up being used though, they're still fun projects. The headdesk one will be fun, I'll see what I can do for that and the other requested ones so far. The sweatdrop one is also much needed.
Really? Off the top of my head...
Excited (head jumping? hands shaking?)
Troll (Lego troll face perhaps?)
Ban hammer
Anime faces/expressions
Crazy/Loopy (Swirls for eyes)
FAIL (A giant brick falling onto a Lego head?)
Very true, Blue. I'm just trying to think of nice emot alternatives to the frequent LOLcatz pics.
I always thought the brick hitting the side of the minifig head was PWNED.
Maybe one emot for each (FAIL & PWNED) is in order?
