Re: I Am The Night

I finished the Bat-Mobile.
I spent a really long time on this. mini/blankexpression  It turned out pretty nicely though. mini/smile It's not quite as cool and is somewhat smaller than the Running Gag, but it's still a pretty nice car.

And here are a lot of pictures:

I got some pretty great features and details here; some nice headlights, jet turbine air intake, exhaust pipes on the engine, silver details, guns which can fold to attack position, super sleekness, and a huge fire booster which can actually light up with a light brick which I managed to fit in there.

So, what do you think? mini/smile

Re: I Am The Night

Woah. I like the shiny-sleekness of it. Also, the exhaust pipe on the back is great! mini/bigsmile

So yeah, I'm back from my mind.

Re: I Am The Night

I think you should tell Lego you have an epic Batmobile design for their new line and sell them instruction for a billion kazillion moniez.

By the way, what kind of camera do you use?

Re: I Am The Night

Thanks guys! mini/bigsmile
I'm really glad this paid off so nicely. This is going to be perfect for the film.

Sadly, (Though you probably just said that to express how awesome it looked) this isn't very piece efficient, and would probably be very pricey for its relatively small size. So it's probably not the type of thing they'd sell. mini/tongue

My camera is a "Cannon PowerShot S3 IS"
Brilliant for taking pictures of LEGO. Wonderful quality, especially in the natural light in these pictures.
Manual focus is pretty much impossible without bumping the camera though. mini/sad
I have to make Brickfilms with Auto Focus... mini/blankexpression

But, I'll be getting a new camera for this film! mini/bigsmile
Hopefully with even better quality and controllable focus.

Re: I Am The Night

Ah. Do you use a particular stop-motion program?

Re: I Am The Night

I don't use a stop motion program.
I take pictures with a camera, put them on my computer, then into editing.
(Yeah, I'm weird.)

Re: I Am The Night

The only thing you'd have trouble with is doing focus pulls and zooming. As long as you don't adjust the focus in the middle of the shot, it's okay. Did you have it on auto in your already released films? It doesn't look like you did, I didn't see any focus flicker.

Anyway, the sharper the quality, the better. Have you considered getting a webcam? With a webcam, everything is controlled on the computer, so your webcam won't move unless you want it to. A webcam needs a frame capture program. I would reccomend getting Stop Motion Pro. You have to pay for it, but it's worth it. It has a very helpful tool called onionskinning. If you're going to get it, make sure you get Action! HD for a good resolution (Action! and Action! Plus have a maximum resolution of 800 by 600).

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: I Am The Night

There are some points of "focus flicker" points in Pirates Rule! and all of my films still.
I've just been clever over the years about finding ways around this and using special hard to explain techniques. I'm glad it isn't too noticeable.
mini/smile

Using a webcam is totally out of the range of reasonable possibilities for me. I don't have a laptop. And my parents don't want us to have our own computers. All computers must be located in the room where I am right now which has four windows, three skylights, and huge openings to other rooms with even more windows. So closing off the natural light is impossible, and having a computer in my room is impossible.
So, no webcam. xD

(Also, my camera takes 2816 x 1584. Hahaha! xD)

Re: I Am The Night

Thanks for telling me that. I just might buy said camera. mini/smile

Re: I Am The Night

This seems to be as good a place as any to say that I've been rather impressed with your MOC-ing skills. It's an area often lacking in brickfilms, so it's nice to see that you're upping the bar for the rest of us.

Thanks, Jargon. mini/smile

Upping the bar is exactly what I want to do with this film.

Re: I Am The Night

Are you going to be green screening face animations onto the minifigure? Wild guess coming from the green head.

Re: I Am The Night

No, that's just for a dramatic, cool, over-the-top cool affect. The head is glow-in-the-dark. During night scenes I'll have a cool glow coming from it.

Re: I Am The Night

I'm going to do something like that for Bats eyes in post production. namely a Neon Glow in Hitfilm.

Now I feel officially sorry for you mini/lol

Having a computer right next to your film set would even further increase your already very good animation skills...
But only if you use software which permits "live view" of your camera (or rather that your camera would support live view...)

Alternatively, at least for smaller sets, you could consider building an animation box.  With your resourcefulness, I'm sure you get what I mean...

We'll seeing the result of the "Making an Entrance" Challenge and knowing what I know now about your situation, you've risen several points in book... ;-)

Animation box...
That's an interesting idea...
But, not very practical as I would need to buy a webcam, animation software, build the box, and a whole lot of other stuff would just make it kinda ridiculous. xD
No webcam for me. Hehe, I don't feel very bad about it though. mini/smile
I feel kind of awesome inside when I prove all of those brickfilmers wrong about not animating with webcams.
And hopefully I'll be able to get a camera which I can plug into the wall so I don't have to worry about... "Battery Low"
mini/twitch
That's pretty awful.

Anyway, guys, here's my Alfred:

I went for a more Allan Napier look (he played Alfred in the '60s).
Best Alfred ever.

Re: I Am The Night

that's awesome mini/smile

Re: I Am The Night

As if all of this didn't look remarkable and like it'll make one heck of a film with all of the work put into it, your '60s-reference-ness just made it more epic. mini/bigsmile

Re: I Am The Night

The movie will have plenty of those.
I'm going to have a red bat-phone. mini/smile
