Whiteout

Well, this is definately the project that I've put the most work into, but the ending was slighty rushed to get it out on time. Overall, I think I did rather well for how long I worked on it.

Re: Whiteout

I also am not sure what happened, but I must say your animation and camera work has improved quite a bit.  The animation looked quite good, especially all the writing was great.  The one thing that didn't look quite right was at the end where he throws the pen/quill.  The characters throw didn't match how fast the pen went, but other than that it was great.  Did you use 24 fps?

Re: Whiteout

Yeah I didn't quite get it either, but it was still nice and everything.

Re: Whiteout

I don't get it either, but the rest was really good...how did you make the candle?

Re: Whiteout

I didn't really get it but still really good animation and the candle effect was superb.

Seems like stock footage to me...

Awesome animation, mini/smile
Now think of a good story for a longer film (I mean 3 minutes or something like that) and you're in the right way.

Re: Whiteout

Well, after all those 'I don't understand' comments, I was expecting something  delightfully cryptic. But this just didn't make sense.

Nice animation though. Shame about the lines across the video throughout...

Re: Whiteout

Yeah, I noticed that, but I thought it was my screen xD

Nice animation though. The throw seemed a bit odd but that was the only thing from me.

I liked the 3D thing which made it look like he wrote your name... that was a fairly awesome way to have an intro mini/smile

Re: Whiteout

wait, I get it now! The guy throws the writing utencil because it is a Whiteout marker andhe cannot write with it. mini/smile

Re: Whiteout

Well, that could be one way to interpret it Stud, but there are many interpritations.

@T.G-Tom - It wasn't stock footage, I filmed it against a black background in by basement.

@FancyPants - I know about the throw, as I said, I was kind of rushed to finish it and didn't have the time to mask it. And yes, it was at 24fps. I was origionally going to have black lines editied in for when he was writing, but as I said, time was pushing me.

Re: Whiteout

While the visuals were nice and the candle presentation was clever, the film was lacking in substance.
Style will help sell a film to the viewer, but without meaningful content (whether funny or dramatic), the viewer will most likely walk away and forget.
I also thought that the choice of music was a bit . . . off.

Re: Whiteout

A meaningless film, but very well executed.

Re: Whiteout

Ok Jargon, as I stated (again) I was rushed, and there was SUPPOSE to be audio where he dialouged his thoughts so you know what's happening, but sadly I didn't get the lines in time, so I had to settle for some mediocre music instead.

Re: Whiteout

"I was rushed" is one of the lamest, most overused excuses in the book. Did you have a deadline to meet? If so, then I suppose I understand.

Overall, it was decent. The animation was pretty good, however, you might want to fiddle around with the exposure settings to get rid of the annoying little lines. And, as others have said, the story didn't really make any sense at all.

Animation was fantastic!

BG, there's no need to be defensive.
Nobody's said anything particularly hurtful or mean, offering instead meaningful criticism.
Instead of making excuses for what's been pointed out, learn from it and make a better film next time. mini/smile
