Topic: Fight Test

YouTube

Captured with a Canon PowerShot S30.
Put together in MonkeyJam.
Edited in WMM.

It's my first stab at trying to do a fight scene. The actions are kinda choppy and random, but it's okay for a first try I guess.

Re: Fight Test

Not bad. The animation seemed a bit jerky (which is down to a low frame rate - what FPS is it?) but the movements were well animated. Just speed it up a little.

Also, welcome to the forums! You might want to change your sig image to something smaller as max size limit is 400x100 pixels (otherwise the mods have a field day on you).

up the frame rate and you have something good. mini/smile

Re: Fight Test

Actually, my FPS is 15. I don't know why it seems jerky. Maybe YouTube quality?

Re: Fight Test

Have you got MonkeyJam set to Hold 2? That makes it 7.5fps.

Re: Fight Test

That couldn't be 15. I think it's probably 8.

I've got a tip, though. If it's messing up like this you can always import the movie clip into a new project, speed it up, and then save it again. That'll make it go faster.

Re: Fight Test

Good grief SW8, it says in the first post.

Re: Fight Test

I didn't set "hold" or anything. I just open MonkeyJam,

Settings>FPS>15
Then Import my pictures and convert them to an .avi. (but then it gets changed into a WMV in the editing process).

Maybe it's the fact that I didn't film that well? Because I'm almost sure it's 15 FPS.

Re: Fight Test

In that case, it is Hold 2 because for some reason that's the default.

Re: Fight Test

Ah, I see. I was wondering why my film was 2-3 seconds longer than I expected. (I divided the amount of frames by 15).

So how do I change this "hold"?

Re: Fight Test

well the easiest way is to choose 30 fps, to make it twice as fast mini/XD

Re: Fight Test

Well I remade it with your guy's advice, and it looks somewhat smoother. I won't post it though, since it's virtually the same.

Also, through this experience, I've learned that WMM isn't too bad when it comes to short films. I do the effects in GIMP (when I have effects to add), my stopmotion in MJ, so I only really need WMM for adding sounds and intros.

Re: Fight Test

WMM is fine as long as no one can tell you used it.  ex: Don't use the default credits and titles!  It makes it look so lame!  Same thing with iMovie and basically any software you use; don't use the defaults, or your audience will automatically assume it was made by an amateur.

Re: Fight Test

Yeah. See, the good with with GIMP is that I make my own titles and integrate them in WMM.

Exactly, that's what i'm starting to do.

Don't be fooled, my avatar is a facade of conformity.

You go to the capture window and under where it says "Image Hold" select the one, it's automatically on two. You also want to make sure it's set to stop-motion, not standard.

I've decided that I'm going to become immune to several select, non-lethal poisons, then put them in my snacks to discourage sneaky snack snatchers. -Littlebrick
