Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

i've got my voice actors all sorted but not many have gotten back to me... mini/sad
i have got 2 minutes of footage, the script for my trailer complete and i have been animating like crazy lately!! i was getting sick of my film but i wanted to continue brickfilming so i went over to the weekinbricks channel to see what their theme for the week was and made a rushed but inspired film. here is the link if you want to watch it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dtDZWKh … annel_page
it took me about 6 hours to make, and i had to scrounge for pieces to make the sets since i did not want to destroy my "Scum of the Earth" sets. i never realized how many sets i could actually make at one time!! so if you want to see something completed after hours of seemingly getting nowhere on your STAR entry, i suggest making a short film to get a break from the hard work...it really helped me!

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Just finished animating my first scene! W00T! mini/XD

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

I don't think I'm going to enter this after all. I haven't even started building sets yet, and there's less than 3 weeks to go. Plus, for some reason, I haven't really had much motivation to do anything brickfilming-related for months (even visit this site). I'll try and get my film finished by the end of the summer, though.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

OK, I'm going to give this another try. My idea this time has no voice-actors, so I have to focus more on sound design. Only 3 weeks, but I think I can get it done.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Yeah, I'm gonna redo it today. Luckily it was only a small part of the scene.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

As I start recording a scratch voice, I realize how cheesy some of my dialogue is.
But otherwise, my brother and I have the final scene done! (Heh, we haven't started on any of the other scenes just yet...)

I never plan on buying anything when I go to the Lego Store.
Strangely enough, I always wind up finding something that makes me ditch those plans.

This is a great point.  I often find that I like how my script reads when I read it in my head to myself, but it's not until I try to read it out loud that I realize there are problems, like "people don't talk like that" or "that sentence is WAY too long".

At this point, me and my co-producer PWC are having to cut a few less-than-essential scenes in hopes of finishing the film by the deadline.  We plan on finishing those scenes and releasing an expanded "director's cut" of the film, hopefully by 2010.  I regret the fact that the contest was only essentially 3 months.  That's not much time to develop something substantial.  I would've preferred like 9 months for a big contest like this.

Smeagol, we've received permission from an indy artist to use some of his music in our film.  How do we go about proving to you that we've received that permission?

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Just... one... more... hour, I promise myself...

You're right about that. I recorded all the VO before animating and found some dialogue way too long. Kind of funny as this is the first film I have made with dialogue. You never stop learning when making brickfilms.

Sorry to hear that.  It proves that it is well worth it to have some ability to back up your work, especially since it takes hours of work for just seconds of footage.  I've had good success with a MyBook USB external drive for backing up.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Yeah, I actually finished the first scene!

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Last week, I wrote my script. Last week, it was left behind in a place miles away.

Therefore, no entry mini/sad

I'm out. But my film will still be released somewhere in 2010. Also, if anybody needs a place to host their movie, feel free to send me a pm.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

LOL I havn't started animating yet. I think I'll start on monday.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

I'm in.
I'm just confused on the theme.:/
Could I do a resturaunt theme?

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

The theme is SPACE TIME AND REALITY.

So, as long as your story fits in with this theme, then its okay. Just make your own interpretations of the theme.
