i would like to know 2 things. first one is just checking that the length restriction on are films has been removed correct and the second is that are we allowed to use real tv theme tunes. at the end of my film this guy flicks through some channels and i want to know if i can use things. you dont see the screen just the music. i know we aren't allowed to use music that is not ours or do not have permission to use. i just cant think of a reason why we cant use theme tunes in it and want to know if we can so my film wont get disqualified.
EDIT could i make up spoofs of the theme tune

Now, my whole entry is practically silent of music, only I wish to use one song at the end credits. If I can't use it, then I'm probably just going to have my whole film without any music. Hm, the more I think about it, that might be interesting.
I'm going to pm the song to you, Smeagol and ask if I'd be able to use it, if that's alright.
Ok...I'm going to say no if it's a copyrighted song or recording that isn't old enough to be in the public domain, though.
Alright, silent it is then. :P
ok ill make a different themesing up. also im using sound effects that come with my apple mac am i allowed to use them as long as i credit apple for it
Are you talking iMovie/Soundtrack sound effects? If so, those are royalty-free, and therefore can be used in your film.

Oh thank the heavens! If wasn't able to use anything from Soundtrack I would have had no hope to enter the trailer contest!
We will accept .avi, .mov, and .wmv formats, please include a version of the video that is 30 megabytes or less, though higher quality versions may be included as well.
Smeagol is .FLV an acceptable format?
yep thank god for that.
i use imovie so im fine. ![]()
god I hate iMovie... not much longer till I get FCE...
If you think you can't use music, just search royalty free music; there's TONs if you just look for even a second. Same for sound effects. Or, find a small time musician to compose a song. They usually like the sort of promotion ![]()
Like everything else, just credit the source.

Darkman did that, he asked me ![]()
Ah great! Haha! I was completely out of ideas when it started and I decided that I wasn't going to enter. But now I have a idea and I REALLY want to go for it, but I will only have a fraction of the time I could've had! I'm not sure.... should I go for it?:/
I say go for it. Even if you don't make it in time, the contest will have at least inspired you to make a brickfilm (one that you feel passionate about, it seems), and that's really the most important thing.
smeagol have you removed the time limit so that as long as it is atleast 2 miniutes it doesnt matter. can it be over 3 mins as i think i remeber seeing that you had removed but just want to be sure.
EDIT yay
