Re: YouTube

Every single video on my channel has this marking. I should probably clarify, I haven't actually monetized any videos on my channel as of yet, I was intending to set up that feature as I found out about this.
I have good standing on strikes and community guidelines, and all of the music I've used of late has just been Incompetech. I have used some Machinimasound music in the past, but that was before they started releasing their music with the different use policies. Has YouTube changed some sort of policy where if one video on your channel is marked with third party content all of your uploads become ineligible?

Re: YouTube

YouTube definitely hasn't done the thing in your last sentence. That would be horrible to lots of channels!

Maybe they updated their servers to where if you don't have adsense set up all the icons are set to non-monetizable? This is a mystery to me.

I was going to mention that youtube made it where people under 10k lifetime views can't monetize, but obviously, you have more than that.

EDIT: I just realized that the monetization icon wouldn't even show up if you haven't enabled monetization or adsense. So my second paragraph makes no sense either.

Re: YouTube

Wait a minute, How many views do you have? If I heard right you must have at least 10,000 views before you can monetize your videos.

Re: YouTube

Hmm, I'm still not sure what's causing the issue, then. The Google troubleshooter said something about me not providing information within a specified amount of time, which may have been because I started the AdSense application, and then cancelled it because I decided to think it through some more. I've completed the application now, so hopefully that will clear things up.

Re: YouTube

Hey I make stop motions but I'm not able to get noticed on YouTube so it would mean the world to me if you could check out my channel and give me some feedback

This is not true. There are very very few brickfilmers on YouTube who are really good and don't receive anything like the publicity they deserve. Seeing as you have only been posting brickfilms on YouTube for 2 months, I would say that you are doing pretty good so far, you just need to be patient (I mean, I've been posting brickfilms for ages, and while I get relatively high view counts, my subscriber count - which doesn't really mean too much anyway - is pretty low in comparison. I am sure that if you wait long enough and you continue to improve your brickfilming skills to the point where you can make amazing brickfilms, then you will get noticed. I would tell you that only the very best get 'famous', but unfortunately, there are a lot of channels/videos out there that are absolutely terrible, regardless of whether or not it is a brickfilm, which become very popular. Some tips I would give you are that posting frequently/routinely will attract more people to you, as I have noticed that when I post more and more in one go then my channels starts to get a bit more popular. It is also about quality, not quantity, don't post something just for the sake of sticking to a schedule or whatever. You also want to make sure that you have an active following and not just a bunch of people who subscribe to you and then never watch any of your videos and never look at your channel again.

Hopefully this will help you.

Thank you

Re: YouTube

So I have an issue.

When I initially made my YouTube channel I (stupidly) made it with an email I was already uring. I regret that decision now (I have emails going out to 'normal' people saying my name is Feinstein, and I also have no email to go along with my channel).
So: I was wondering if anyone knows how I can fix this (i.e. disconnect my personal email from my YouTube channel and connect a new one to take its place).
After some searching online I ended up pretty confused about what information is still true (Google seems to have updated their policies multiple times in this regard).

Thanks!

I believe there is a way. This video seems to be what your looking for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SNg34pdgoY

(With the new YouTube update, you can get to your account settings with youtube.com/account)

Re: YouTube

Thanks, Willow!

That method worked (my channel hadn't been a brand account before).

Re: YouTube

What are your thoughts on the new YouTube layout?

Re: YouTube

What new YouTube layout? It's been the "new" layout for a few months now.

I've been enjoying my Firefox plugin version that lets me:
Change Color to dark mode with blue instead of red
Slow down to .1 speed (Useful for brickfilm studying)
and skip ads!

I think that either that will happen or there will be too many members and it will be nearly impossible to be found.

Re: YouTube

So... annotations are going away. That's sad, so many good annotations will be lost. Especially those of the interactive brickfilm games on YouTube.

What do yall think about this change? Is it for the better? Do you wish it could be archived? I wish they made a way to save annotations on existing videos but just like Video Responses, it seems like they'll be lost to the abyss of time.

Re: YouTube

I suppose this was going to happen sooner or later, but I rather wish they'd remained in their archived state.
I think I'll most miss the annotations of Pongowl's "Under New Management." They move the film to an enlightened state.

I'm gonna miss chadmattandrob's interactive videos. Those were so well made & were my introduction to the genre. I thought it was such a cool new way to bridge the gap between games and films. So sad to know that videos like that will perhaps be gone forever...

Remember to save em now while you still can!

Re: YouTube

Bump.

Anybody else notice their YouTube video thumbnails altered recently? Some of my (latest) brickfilms thumbnails now look to be brightened and have more contrast - it's led to some having blown highlights. mini/sad

And I didn't change a thing. Am thinking about re-uploading mine again (I always do custom thumbnails) a bit darker and see if this fixes it. Strange...

Edit: Now it seems to be effecting all videos across the platform, regardless of upload date. Unfortunate. A lot look worse for wear because of it.

Re: YouTube

I did notice that the other day on one video, but now looking at it, it's happened to all my videos. It's sad that they're adding automatic filters. Now all my video thumbnails look like trash. mini/confused
