Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

New Kickstarter update about the documentary.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

Docurama sent over their contribution today. No explanation or apology for ignoring all my efforts to contact them and not giving money to most of the other recent winners. It's a shame that it took a strongly worded email to their parent company explaining how they've generally failed to pay out to all the recent winners of this poll to get our contribution. I imagine they generally don't contribute to the winners, considering how persistent I had to be to get them to do it.

That's disappointing. Oh well, at least you got it!

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

Just out of curiosity, how much did Docurama end up contributing?

A pittance.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

$50, any money is helpful! They never indicated how much they would contribute, my objection was really just to how they went about giving me the run-around for weeks.

They didn't like my strongly worded email, seemed to think I was being unreasonably demanding. Normally I try to be forgiving of anybody who is just trying to help, so I'm not sure how to feel about it, but the lack of responsiveness on their end was troubling considering they ran several more rounds of voting afterward.

'Bout time.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

Oh my god, $50. Wow, a nearly broke high school student like me contributed more then that. Seriously it's almost insulting that you had to go to such lengths to get such an amount. I wouldn't be surprised if they just had some people in the company pay out of pocket. In fact, that's probably what happened.

Well, I'm for sure not giving them any business in a long time. Seriously, that's kind of sad.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

Still, at least $50 will pay for the shipping for all of the LEGO parts that will make up the Builder and Master Builder rewards.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

Yup money is always good. It's a shame Docurama has no integrity.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

Wow.  $50 is low even for a "small" contribution.  That is pretty disappointing, especially since you had to spend so much time chasing them down and writing strongly worded letters (I've had to deal with more than one such similar situation in my personal life myself recently, I can definitely relate to that).

Still, every little helps...

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

It was a web promotional, I don't begrudge them the amount. We've had a fair amount of peoples' Kickstarter credit card payments get declined, so it's nice to get some extra money in after the fact.

I just finished adapting a Canon FD 35-105mm f/3.5 lens using an adapter kit. It's an older zoom lens that won't work with EF mount cameras without the modifications I did, kind of a fun thing to try.

Does the adapter require glass?

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

Nope! I didn't want to do that because adapters containing glass degrade the image rather heavily. I had to remove the back of the lens and replace it with the adapter parts, it is now effectively an EF lens. It wasn't difficult, other than one of the screws gave me some trouble as it was soft metal and stripped easily.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

I have had experience with adapters that require glass (I own one), and they suck! I have been looking at purchasing an FD lens, but have been cautious due to adapting issues.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

I thought it was relatively painless to convert from FD ton EF using the right adapter kit from that guy. Took out a few screws, removed a few parts, put the new back on and screwed it in.

Re: Bricks in Motion: The Documentary

It depends how long it takes us to get all the content for the BiM Collection ready. Most likely, this will close sometime in early November.

Not to be that guy who keeps posting updates about his project even if it means double posting, but...

there's a new update on the Kickstarter page!

I think you'll be forgiven for posting about your project on your website.  mini/wink  Glad this is all panning out well.
