Thanks.
Actually I use studless pieces for my crane/dolly/jib/slider. I don't know what to call it anymore, I never went to filmmaking school. Mostly I prefer the Sarrus or Scott-Russell linkages for my camera rig. I guess Watt's or scissor would also work but then they would need really strong casings, Oldham or Schmidt couplings maybe? I just use a basic truss.
I hope you are familiar with Lego Technic. Otherwise, it sounds like I am speaking in Klingon, doesn't it? Would love to share photos with you but if you can give me a couple of weeks to sort out my work stuff. I do think a really good design for a crane would be the 42009 Mobile Crane MK ii. You can download the instructions actually if you google Lego instructions 42009. The crane and the gear box starts at Book 4. They use 2 linear actuators and a pulley. I modified that.
If none of this is making sense, maybe you can link me in the thread for your crane and I will share photos with you there. I want to see your crane as well.
As for my rocky camera work, yah, I get that a lot, ha-ha. I don't why I enjoy jerky camera movements, maybe I've been watching too much Blair Witch Project, Modern Family and Parks & Recreation. I might try making it less choppy. But if that still doesn't work, then I'll dump the idea.
I was just kidding about flaming comments. I think I got immune to them.
