I think I have heard enough 'cool' ice puns to do me for the rest of my life
On-topic, I will make an entry tonight or tomorrow, but it will be hastily made

I'm going to try and enter this. I will start animating it today.
Actually, i dont think im gonna finish my entry. I only shot one or two pictures and a failed running sequence and i don't feel like finishing it off. I have too much other stuff to do.

Aw well, nice to know you tried, man.
It has been raining here all day, and I was like, "Stupid rain, it makes me want to animate some plastic." then I saw this and was like, "Great, now I am going to spend the next three days being useless trying to do a movie I probably won't finish." but heck, it'll be fun.
Oh, and another thing, I just finished watching Frozen like 30 min. ago.
Dang, I've been working really hard on my entry but I'm not sure I'm gonna finish in time. I'll keep trying anyway. Also, is it allowed to have the freeze ray be coming out of a giant ice demons hand? I hope so since I have already started animating it.
I should have my entry out tomorrow, it's pretty much done.

Yeah, that's absolutely fine. As long as the freeze ray is brickbuilt, it could be coming out the blowhole of a half-whale, half-geranium hybrid sucking on a melon in mid-flight over Toronto during winter.
Enjoy that image.
Ya blowin my mind Jam!!!
I did a few test animations today (first animation in 4 months) and I took my time, and it turned out alright! If I am free tomorrow I will give this a shot!
Finally finished up my entry, here ya go! Pritchard, I'm sorry if our films turned out really similar, it wasn't intentional.

I really liked the sound effects in this and the ice shards on the guy, great job.
Great entry, Mighty Wanderer!
Just to clarify, tomorrow's the deadline. I won't be making a decision until the 12th, however, so you have all of tomorrow, no matter what timezone (I think) to upload something if you still want to.
Here's my entry:

I just realized that I'm going to be away next week so if the results are up after Saturday, I won't see them.
So if I was to win (which would be unlikely since I'm a little rusty) it would be great if someone else was to choose the next challenge. Hope that didn't sound weird in any way
That's a really great idea for an entry, and marvelously done. I especially like the pizza.
Double-post but it's totally necessary. RESULTS! All the entries were cool, and it was n-ice to see that so many people entered, but there can only be one winner.
In 1st place is animationIsaac, with the invasion thingymawhatsit. The concept was hilarious, and while the actual frozen ship was a bit uniform, the freeze ray itself was fantastic. Brief, but that actually worked in the animation's favour.
To everyone else: you created some really awesome freeze rays as well, and I'm so glad y'all entered this one. I was afraid that the one time I got to choose the challenge nobody would enter, but alas not! Guess I needed to chill out.
So, animationIsaac, it's up to you to decide the next challenge! What's it gonna' be? Hmmmmmm????

Actually wait nevermind, it's not after Saturday.
Interesting pick Jampot, very interesting.
Issac, you're up, and I'm sure you've got a great challenge in mind.
And congratulations!
Anyway, here's my thoughts on them all:
0DonkeyKong, The animation could have been a bit better, but I like the gun twirl and flying snow effects. The studs splashing forward are a great touch. Thing is, it ain't much of a ray.
MightyWanderer, Great job, probably my favorite. The animation is nice, and the set is simple but good. The best part though is the lighting. I love the "warming up" lighting effects on the gun, and the extra flashing is perfect. Those parts are good for freeze rays, but not the most original.
animationIssac, again, great job on the win.
As always, your unique animation style is very entertaining and well done. Yours has a tiny bit more story than the others, and probably the best animation. The ray look nice, but is really quick and not the focus of the short. The frozen UFO is simplistic, but very effective and has a nice feel to the look. If you had given the ray itself a bit more focus and/or screen time, this would have been even better. It works great in the short, but could have used more for this challenge.
Overall there were some great entries, and thanks everyone for participating with me.
It was great fun, and I'm sure we're all looking forward to whatever Issac throws our way.
And thanks Jampot for hosting and judging this.
Congrats Issac and great job to everyone who joined. I wish I could have joined.
Thank-you so much!
It's not Saturday yet so I can still choose the next challenge. What are your thoughts on motion blur without special effects as the new challenge? If one of you think you have a better idea; feel free to fire away.
